Very, very few of definition #1 cowboys left in the US today

The Dront is extinct and still the word kind of lingers on.

So Americans are reckless and ignore potential risk? ;)

Look, you attribute the use of the word dependent on a condition. However, this (3) was the exact meaning Steve was trying to bring through when the "Cultural Archtype" discussion drained the thread of all energy.

Galmin - "So Americans are reckless and ignore potential risk?"

Now you're starting to get the hang of it! ;)

BTW...it's "Dodo"...not "Dront".

It's called the "Dodo Bird" in America...look up "dodo" and "dront" in an American dictionary...you won't find "dront".

... precisely. The thing is that Ron knew exactly what I meant by cowboy, but he persistently changes the subjects and avoids the issues. DT is doing the same in this thread. He would have us prattling on about Dodos and Dronts because he doesn't have a ready answer to the issues at hand.

And they wonder why I lose my temper!!!

I accept that.

Raphus cucullatus is the latin denomination for the same extinct bird.

Drat you, DT! :insane hahahaha!

You gave away major clues as to which answer is morally and common sense-wise correct re: the successful transmission of information! Of course, people still have to decide if their personal forte is #1 (basically: "I just like to hear myself talk, no matter how offensive my terms are to certain groups.") or #2 (basically: "It may take some learning and adjustments, but I want to make myself understood").

Are you two so slow-in-the-head that you cannot see how that can be turned into the repressive outlawing of terms by powerful groups? All they have to do is lie about being offended, or about other groups being offended, label the term offensive and get it banned. An easy way to destroy the opponents agenda and his/her armoury of discursive terms, a bit like a ground-attack on a military armoury or airfield.

You must think we're all stupid, despite the fact that we constantly demonstrate that we're miles ahead of you. C'mon, up the pace and raise the game, guys, this is getting tedious.

We're wasting time, we could be discussing the real repression and murder being committed by Zionists, neo-conservatives, terrorists and Stalinists.

Have I missed anyone here; it wouldn't be fair, would it?

So close to elections, banning the use of the wordcombination "Record Deficit" and "Economy"(since a bunch of people might be offended by them, I am sure Rush Limbaugh can write an 'article' on the subject) would be a brilliant idea.

Q - The only thing that I think is really getting tedious is the manner in which you address people in this forum. :rolleyes

Without naming names I have read all kinds of stuff on this bb that I personally, as a Jew, regard as anti-semitic.

But as I said it's "polite", politically correct expressed anti-Semitism. Elsewhere on the web, in a forum discussing the Torah, I found the below. It's a common observation (especially made by those of observant Judaism) on the insider buzzwords and how people will deny their anti-Semitic views:

"they will nit-pick, saying that they like Jews -it is just Israel/ Sharon/ Zionists/ neocons /zio-hackers/--whatever is the latest buzzword..."

Hi Larree.

Do you regard the specific word discussed (neocon, short for neo-conservative) as antisemitic?

Actually, Galmin, the term originally was "Zionist"...as in "Zionist oppression" as used by Q in another thread. That was the original word(s) that this thread pertains to.:b
