In my country this is NOT considered a crime.

A crime would be to involve a child below 16 years into clear sexual actions (touching, kissing, intercourse or telling sexual phantasies and showing porn material/movies).

To draw a line here is not easy, because me for example as a father of two kids I am used to the fact that they sleep at friend's houses, I don't know where and I can also not rule out that they see the parents of them probably naked, like I was not able to cover myself quick enough when kids slept in my house (I even didn't know that sometimes) and opened the bathroom door while screaming loud and finding that all funny.

Well, a trial is on the way and let's hear the EVIDENCE then.

As long as there is no evidence available, I stick to the "innocent until proven guilty" rule.

I totally understand what you are saying Mike :) That's all natural. I had parents too when I grew up as well as slumber parties. However the adults were normally sleeping in other rooms and other beds.....

Mike, do you think it is OK for parents to get into bed and sleep with other people's children?

I think I would have thought my friend's father was weird if he wanted to sleep in the same bed with me when I was 10 years old.

Or if my friend's father wanted to sleep with my brother when he was 10 years old. When you're 10 years old, anyone over 18 is old and crusty.... :wgrin

Let see if it's true. Billie Jean song is one I liked a lot, and nothing others stands out much. But in America the system should stand to its ideals which is innocent until proven guilty.

well its a different angle here Chris. The way I understand it, MJ was playing with the kids on their level, and when children see this in an adult they accept them. If children see you as a "parent" figure then their acceptance of you is at that level. I believe that jackson was re-living his childhood a bit with the kids, and that was that. I don't see any crime in that. I mean, the guy even climbs trees and sits there when he wants to be alone, plays on the rides etc etc. I last climbed a tree when I was 12 or 13. heh.

You know, I play with my cousin Amy like a kid - on her level. She is 11 (not 10). She sits on my knee, cuddles up to me, we sing songs together. I'm her pal. Of course, in my head I'm still me, I don't have a peter pan (or the female version) alter ego, so I dont feel like having a pyjama party with kids.

What jackson is doing may not be "normal" adult behaviour, but has he committed a crime? In my books he's innocent until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt.

I don't know... This SAME thing happened 10+ years ago.

I think that is why everyone is all over it this time.

I hear you Debbie, so in your view, as long as the adult 'thinks' he's a child, it's OK to sleep with children and we're only talking sleep here.

yah. not the slightest suggestion of sex.

Actually in india its common with poor people, for entire families to share the same bed(s). You see, they don't even think the same as the west, so there's no though about improper or proper or anything really.

Still, I'm not sure what he did or didn't do even. I do know that he's a really sensational personality to go after, for his looks, his skin, his hairstyle, melting nose... :dunno

That happens in China too Debs, entire FAMILIES sleeping together.

As far as I can tell, the boys MJ sleeps with are not family.

As an English friend said to me today, if MJ was an unknown 47 year old chap who lived in a council flat in England and was discovered to be sleeping with preteen boys - they would arrest him - just for that - regardless of any 'sexual' inappropriateness.....

And just what would the specific criminal charge be?

Don't get me wrong.. - I don't approve of it. As a matter of fact, the very idea seems morally repulsive, because of the culture I was raised in.....

Having said that, if it was totally innocent,... - I can't see how it could be classified as "criminal"..

On the other hand, if there WAS sexual abuse, the guy should be locked in a room with the Fathers of the kids for an hour.

In your experience as a father and a man, I guess you know better than me if it's OK for a man to sleep with other people's children.

If I ever have children, and my best male friend wanted to sleep with my preteen children, I would wonder why even though I normally trust him imperatively.....

And whilst we're on the subject, is it OK for a man to sleep with preteen girls?
