i like the melody, i like the instrumentation too. very summery, that's a good description.

i wonder though, in the first part where there are two vocals, are they together or is one a little behind the other? the first time really i mean, as in around the 30-44 second area?

sounds great and i like the abrupt ending too. very summery!

HAHA Bud :D

Good ears :D :D

What is disturbing for you is the fact that there are MY vocals as well in that part :)

Anna did leave the studio too quick and I later had not the chance to let her double that part. So I did it. The male aspect there creates the 'vibes' LOL But it sounds better than alone IMHO :)

Thanks a lot for taking the time to listen :) )

I just got my Logic 7 Pro upgrade (hurray! :) ) and frickled around with it.

Lots of new features, better handling... it's worth to check out!

The outcome today is a little feel good track without any bigger meaning of life message included :D and it turned out to be 'friendly' despite the grey weather here! LOL

It's called...

"You Don't"

...and features a young girl, Anna Ronte, :) here from Germany on vocals. Maybe you like it, or not HAHA! :)

i like your voice on the tunes i've heard it on mike. in fact, one of my favorite indie tunes ever is that one you did with nina back a few years ago. your vocal MADE that song.

I was confused, Mike - at first I thought this thread's title meant that you went skiing or something across the snow. DOH!!!

Downloading the track now and I'll give it a listen!

Is that Anna's eye?

Just had a quick listen. The double vocals are a weird effect and works well! It's got an Eighties feel to this track, the 'do do' bits remind me of Abba!! hahahahhaa WOooooooohoooooooooo! Summery is a good description?

She's no Kate but she's got a pleasant tone in her voice, I like the way her German accent creeps into her pronounciation - makes me keep listening.

Good work Mike :banana

Bud :)

I remember that you liked the track with Nina back then :)

It is called "All These Tears (Rock-Mix)" feat. Nina" :)

Thanks for your compliments :)

Ron! LOL

No skiing here... :D

...however it looks like you were on a slippery path when trying to listen to the song now! HAHA! :) ;)

Chriiiiis! ;) :) ;)

We Germans can't hide very well our accents :)

I'm glad you were not too disappointed by the track!

It is just a result of my "new music production software inspiration" psychosis! LOL

Rev9Volts :)

I' glad you had a entertaining listen and didn't waste your time :)

As a guitar lover I own several guitars and Les Pauls :me

Here I played my Custom Les Paul Standard over a 50W

Marshall with a 4x12 Marshall cabinet (pic below). The only

effect I used (and I use it usually always because it's a style

element of my sound) is a Digitech TSR24 Digital Delay with

410ms. delay :)

Is that Anna's eye?

Chris :D While I'm at the pictures..... YES, this is Anna's eye.

Actually she has two! LOL

She is a exotic mix, dark skin, black hairs, but green eyes.

As an orphan she doesn't know her real parents and descent,

but she had a German mother, hence the green eyes :)

Here is she in full (on the left): :)

i think i remember when you bought it. so it is a custom shop version of a les paul standard? outside of prettier maple top what is the difference in it and a regular les paul standard? i have an 88 regular les paul standard. does it have a different nitro finish? someone told me the like historic custom shop les paul reissues have a thinner finnish and thus more resonounce. do you know?

which marshal do you have? does it have a master volume? i guess it is way to loud for a townhouse?

That is the problem with apartments and townhouses you can not turn up the volume for output tubes so it is all preamp distortion.

i have an early 70s champ and it sometimes is too loud...

great playing also!

Well, I did enjoy listening to that. But mainly because of the technical excellence and superb sonic quality.

Those "horn" hits are so tight with the snare.. - reminds me of Earth, Wind, and Fire....

Do you quantize that stuff, Mike? The midi drums and horns?

If not, if you played them by hand and didn't quantize, your sense of timing is incredible.

I thought only black people could play that tightly...

And yeah, - I agree with Seismo and Chris... - I noticed you look slimmer in that picture with the Les Paul....

Thanks again for your compliments :)

The guitar in this case I've bought long before I found out about messageboards, so you remember probably another Les Paul. Actually this Les Paul Standard is a heavyweight, has a huge d-shape neck and a rather thick top.

The Marshall I'm using is a 50W JCM800 series, of course with a master volume :) BUT... I usually record at very high volumes, let's say master not below "4". That's of course too loud for being used in an apartment :me I'm lucky that my studio and recording room is located in a "neighbour free" environment :)
