New song 'Hide and Seek' from the Questionnaires' next album 'The Quirk Ethic'.

Hope you like it.

HIDE AND SEEK hi-fi

HIDE AND SEEK lo-fi

It's a 'second-stage' mix, not rough but not finished, so comments welcome.

:merci

Its quite nice. I like the keyboard and sax work.

I feel that the chorus vox could go high instead of low - lift the song a bit.

pretty cool though.

Mmmm I'm a fan of the Questionnaires! And I like this one!! Playing hide and seek again. The backing vocals on the chorus is a bit weird - can't pinpoint exactly what it is. Guitar solo is very very neat! Overall it's catchy and after listening a few times, gets the bbchris seal of approval :yo

.... thanks for the listens, much appreciated.

Debbie, point taken, but it's not a dramatic song, it's pretty cool and a bit sardonic, so we don't want high emotion in the chorus.

Paul, we record everything at my place on 16-track digital equipment. We've just been signed by a small independent label, and we're hoping that they will fund an upgrade to 32-track, this is the one we want .....

Chris, glad you enjoyed it. This is just a rough mix, so there's still a bit of work to do on everything. I've gone for a wide pan on the backing vocals, so they need to be pulled together and evened up with some careful EQ, reverb and limiting.

.... on this one are all programmed because it's a fairly simple drum part. For more complicated ones we use hybrid real/programmed drumming.

Which studio are you going into?

Listening......

Nice track..........

Nice mix, too.. - I like the way the snare comes through - very punchy..

The piano and sax solos are nice, but too dry for my ears. I would put a bit more 'verb on them.............

Guitar solo is delicious... - as are the vocals that follow...

Hey - I love those female vox in the backup tracks....

VERY nicely written, and arranged....

Here... - you deserve a Cookie for that one....:)

... the Cluny is good, Tony the engineer down there put the PRS/MCPS tunecodes on our new master a couple of days ago. They've got new Mackie/Protools gear, and Tony has a decent pair of ears.

I agree, the piano and sax are a bit dry, I'll sort that out plus other problems on the final mix.

How's it going, anyway?
