Colditz was a WWII prisoner of war camp infamous for its collection of specialists and ingenious escape plans. one such plan was to build a glider from pieces of stuff around the castle in a secret room behind a false chapel wall, sneak it onto the roof, tie a bathtub full of sand to it and leverage its fall to get the glider over the river.

just as it was being finished orders came to cease all escape attempts because the allies were coming and it wasn't worth the risk.

turns out it would have worked.

anyways, that's the story behind my contribution...

Wasn't there a movie about that with Richard Baseheart as the commandant? (In the movie they actually did it..."Flight of the Condor" maybe?)

The British did a series on it before that.
