"American commanders said 38 American servicemembers had been killed and 275 wounded in the Falluja assault, and the commanders estimated that 1,200 to 1,600 insurgents - about half the number thought to have been entrenched in Falluja - had been killed. But there was little evidence of dead insurgents in the streets and warrens where some of the most intense combat took place."

- new york times

where are all the dead bodies of the insurgents?

and why were there no big explosions killing many american troops because it is not difficult to make big explosions they have done this already and they had time to prepare

there is something very 'fishy' going on here

i saw insurgents fight against the military in my country nigeria and there were dead bodies all over the streets and in bombed houses etc so why not in fallujah?

other reports tell us of insurgents making big trouble in other iraqi cities perhaps most of them went there leaving only a few in fallujah

it could be the the americans are staging 'big victories' for their television cameras so the bush supporters with the red necks will all do a victory dance in their barns but really all the time the trouble is getting worse all over iraq and there will be trouble for a very long time like there has been in many places in africa such as nigeria

in nigeria the american corporations have been paying insurgents a lot of money for a long time to cause trouble and destabilise the government so it does not have the popular support needed to regulate the activities of the corporations who want our massive mineral and oil supplies at very cheap prices

they have done this all over the world and these american corporations have in them many very evil people

or it could be that the americans want to destroy a city with very many mosques to desecrate the islamic ground and cause a big war with islam i don't know

i think mr burn and mr questionnaire are perhaps right that some of the christian americans have not learnt to think very well about these issues

ok lunch over now back to my english studies

but mr dreamtone7 sir all myu leturers at college tell me that the nyt is one of the better us publications unlike some of the others that just spew forth right-wing propaganda

sir forgive my candid statement but my lecturers are all very much more educated than you sir and they do not confuse religious books with proper research journals and reports etc so i am minded to prefer their professional advice to your rather more amateur efforts sir

they tell me to avoid message-boards and other websites because they are run by 'right-wing nutters and brainless bible-thumpers from america' but i will reserve judgement for myself although im disappointed to report that my initial observations are proving their rather affronting hypothesis if i may be so bold as to say so

why do they call right-wing fundies 'nutters' because in nigeria a nutter would just be someone who gathers nuts and a nutcase would simply be a receptacle in which to put them can anyone explain is i may be so bold as to ask?

antman - "sir forgive my candid statement but my lecturers are all very much more educated than you sir"

And how do you know this? You don't. You're making an assumption, aren't you. But what is it that makes you believe that your lecturers are more intelligent? Could it be because they tell you what you want to hear? I believe that at this point in your life, this may be so.

As far as your lecturers themselves go, I would ask them the next time you see them if they have met anybody who runs one of these message boards...or are they just as assuming as you have been?

Speaking of nuts...we have a saying in America. "The nut never falls too far from the tree." The meaning of this is that you will never be much different in your opinions than those who have educated you, in this case. In other words, if you learn from a person with a twisted outlook on life, you will also have a twisted outlook on life. Based on what I have seen you write on this board, I would say that I don't think very highly of your lecturers. There is much that they either don't know, or perhaps have decided not to tell you. If you want a real education, you must take in diverse viewpoints, and them make up your own mind. A limited education provides for a limited outlook on life...if one is not wise enough to look beyond what a homogenous group of people have for opinions. An open mind is required for this, though...that part is also up to you.

but sir if you will permit to say so your attempt to portray my lecturers as twisted is most improprietous and does your case no good sir in the eyes of people reading this messageboard

sir if your espouse the most honourable principle of an open mind why is yours so closed to anything apart from 'america is great' and 'the bible is the truth' and 'socialism is evil' etc etc in my experience though forgive me i do not wish to be rude sir my lecturers minds are far more open than yours and nothing is more homogenous than right-wing american christianity because the followers of this sect believe only their religious book and christian leaders such as the warlike mr bush and allow only scientific facts or hypotheses that support their book and their leaders sayings

so sir now i know why mr burn and mr questionnaire become angry and the board is thinly populated viz a viz educated people it is because as is my contention sir if i may be permitted to say so you and mr ronguitar try to patronize people who are much cleverer and more educated than you by posting statements like the one above saying that some change in them is 'required' and 'this is up to them' and this of course this seems absurd and improprietous to them because it is you and mr ronguitar who seem to lack the proper education required of western citizens to join in the democratic process
