from some real low-life's on this board who tried to shut me up, with abuse, threats, bullying. Where were you then? At least DT posted his stuff on politeness as the language was disturbing him, despite his disagreement with me. So talk to me now about treatment of spouses and lets see whose relationships are still lasting...

Oh, BTW, I don't take Steve's post as "command". You can gauge the tone of voice from the personalities you know, and you know that some of the sweetest posts contain the deadliest insults.

I don't take Steve's post as "command".

Well, the problem with that claim, Debbie, is when we follow the essence of what started as a civil discussion, we see this order:

The summation of the article:

"What needs investigating here is not only whether the United Nations violated its own practices, but how it slid into procedures that so comfortably let this happen."

You posted reasonable thoughts and were comfortable with continuing the theme, summing up with:

"So what checks and balances can we put in place of the UN?"

Seeing that you were engaging in a thoughtful, logical Q&A, Steve jumped in to add this charming tidbit:

"Don't bother replying to these liars."

(note: I would submit that no matter whom you submiited that delightful interjection to for examination, they'd say "looks like a demand to me".)

It was my assumption that your thinking - if not your posting - would be "Thanks, Steve, but I can manage to continue a civil discussion on my own". So I responded to your thoughts and query, starting with:

"That's a tough question, Debbie."

And I went on to address the topic in what I would again submit for objective consideration as a reasoned and friendly post for your perusal, thoughts, agreement and/or disagreement.

But after Steve's order to you not to reply, I missed your response following the relaxed, intelligent nature of that discussion.

Now, I believe such demands impact on how some women will act, even though they shouldn't. But since I'm in a betting mood here, I'd lay my money that the vast majorrity of women would either politely or overtly blow off any like command, suggesting that it instead be relegated to someplace that never sees the light of the sun.

But people have to make their own decisions, it's just against my personal nature to tell them how to go about it.

Debbie, the rubbish this rambling guy posts is almost unbelievable. It's beyond the pale.

He can't stand the thought of two people agreeing on being against his puerile neo-con doctrine, so he wades in with a pathologize, divide and rule tactic so crude that a 5 year-old could spot it a mile away!!!!!!

It's just too unpolished for words.

He's a philospopher, linguist, psychologist, psychiatrist, sociologist, political scientist, policeman and domestic abuse counsellor all rolled into one.

You know what debbie and I do, so what do you do for a living, anyway, Ron? I'm also trying to get macho-man Seismo to reveal his height and weight, just to get a picture of what we're up against here. So would multi-intellectual renaissance-man Ron reveal his occupation?

ta-daaaaaa ...........

You're not sure of anything.

There is something of which I have NO doubt.

Ron says:

Quote:
Seismo, gimme a reality check here. When a fella is used to having his every command followed to a "T" without question by a lady - doncha just reckon the missus just may be living a life of unbridled happiness?

Seismo responds:

Quote:
I would tend to agree with that.

Not quite the response Ron expected...see this and response to me....

Quote:
just one of things that makes me wonder....

hahahahahaha

Any idiot would have questioned that statement, but oh, not our "I don't have the capacity to debate, I'll just abuse and insult you instead" seismo. I bet pore seismo feels like you gave him a trick question Ron. wheeeeeee.

Unless, of course, seismo actually does believe that statement. ewwwwww.

Debbie:

Quote:
Something is very wrong when you have to use the words "command" and "without question" in a relationship, don't you think?

Ron:

Quote:
If you check back, Debbie, you'll see that's exactly the question I'm pondering!

Quote:
If a person handles women online by giving orders and then berates them if they don't fall in line, it just makes me wonder, as I sez.

Quote:
Along that same line of thought, on this side of the world a girl is often advised to observe how a prospective mate treats his mother and sisters. One thing may speak of another.

Quote:
I realize the "strong woman" image doesn't set very well with some guys.

Like I said, Ron, where you were going with that was in the personal realm of sustained relationships, intending it as an insult to Steve's offline life. Do you really wanna go there? Can others stand up to the scutiny?

Seismo and Debbie - you are both better persons than a stranger who happened on this thread might think. And I believe you both know each another to be good people at heart. In the heat of "battles" we all tend to lose sight of the fact that we all have our moments. But it should only be for only a short while that anger clouds our vision.

.... that really is enough. Talking to a young woman like that on a public board is disgusting. You are a seriously low-grade human being, Anamoly, a barrack-room thug.

Ron, your hypocrisy is equally disgusting. You are the biggest culprit when it comes to personalizing discourse an pathologizing individuals on a public board that has been designated as a political discussion forum, and your monkey here is just following your organ-music. You should shoulder much of the blame for this.
