I got the impression during that Senate hearing with Rumsfeld that he was sorry and apologized for that pictures of the abuse had been made public, not that the abuses actually took place.



It's like: "Currently 45 deaths in our prisons are being investigated. 9 people will or have already been tried at a courtmartial. We have to make sure nothing like this ever happens again, so we will ban cameras"

If the kids can't play with their toys nicely, they have to be taken away. How would you like somebody filming you while you were in prison? That was not why soldiers were allowed cameras. I am sure the reason was more along the lines of sending personal pictures home to family. Having been in the military (Navy, actually) I know that this kind of reaction is totally in line with the way things are done in the military...nothing unusual about it. But, of course, the media draws whatever the most alarming conclusion is that they can and parades it for all to see...and some swallow it hook, line and sinker. "Americans Covering Up Torturing Prisoners" etc, etc.



Bad, bad, American government. How dare you take whatever steps are necessary to protect your country. Just because you have the means and the will to do so is nothing...you should be suffering like the rest of the world...whose greedy leaders have ALREADY stripped the populace of their money.

If I was being tortured? I'd preffer it. It is evident that chances are a lot higher that the ones doing the torture get caught, when documented.
