Something I realised last week about violence and war

I did say that the humans have six basic human needs.. The first four - certainty, uncertainty/variety, love/connection and significance are needs that all humans MUST fulfill. In good or bad ways. And the fulfilment for these needs are fleeting. The remaining 2 needs; growth and contribution are more long-term. It's put simply so even a child can understand.

Anytime we can get at least 3 of our needs met by something, it becomes an addiction.

A suicide bomber gets certainty that they are doing something right, uncertainty from fear, love/connection with his/her family & friends. significance that what he/she is doing will make a difference & that he's a hero, feels like he's making a contribution to his society & family.

What does he get from being unemployed watching suicide bombers get all of the above? And so the cycle continues. It needs to be broken within the families.

Child labor laws, 40 hour work weeks, overtime pay, workplace safety regulations, all brought to you by American socialists. I think those are good things. Our current form of medicine is even 'socialized' through insurance, it is essentially from each according to his ability, to each according to his need. I've been to a doctor twice in the past three years and yet my insurance is still paid every month so others who have to go ten time a year can afford it (and taxes make up for those without insurance). That's socialism. It's not perfect socialism since it's still driven by the profit motive, but therein lies the real problem with America spending more per capita on health care than any other nation in the world, someone's gotta get rich.
