<<this discission was not personal>>
You have to understand, Spitster, that people already had no excuse in demanding that Saddam Hussein remain as dictator of Iraq. With the toppling of the dictatorship, such people have even more reason to be greatly embarassed at having been on the wrong side of history. To be sure, there were/are those who were furious that Hitler was defeated, but they were also on the wrong side of history. Such people are left with nothing but illogic and emotionalism to try to make sense of being on the losing side of history; even moreso if they find themselves chronically in that situation.
At any rate, when logic, reason and common sense have departed from a person, personal attacks are pretty much all that's left.
Free people everywhere have won this debate. It's up to the liberated Iraqi people to make the anti-liberation crowd really furious. A major difference between pro & anti liberation sides is that the anti-liberation crowd secretly (& openly) despises the Iraqi people in claiming that Iraqis are not bright, civilized or talented enough to run their own country (at least without Saddam). Those of us who supported the liberation of the Iraqi people know that they have a long, tough road in the days & years to come - but we believe that the Iraqi people are more than up to the challenge. Since both they and other free people have sacrificed so much toward their liberation, all people of goodwill wish only the Iraqi people the best for their future. But, again, there are sadly those who yearn for the failure of the freed Iraqi people.
