When a storm rolls through, I unplug totally so there's no direct "path of least resistance" via the house electrical wiring. The PC guts could still get fried by a near strike, but that helps considerably. Dababy (my chubby spoiled cat) hides under the bed until thunderstorms pass - when there's a particularly loud "CRAAACKKK!!" I'm about ready to join her. Hahaahaa!
