Yesterday I visited a fancy place to celebrate the 10th. birthday of my son...

and found there this interesting instrument!

Actually this instrument can be moved easily....

...and by simlpy moving it, a rather complex mechanic

varies the length of the strings... you also can pull and squeeze at some lines/cords... and the instrument plays

It sounds like a ultra deep upright bass

Pretty cool, Mike - I like how the "basses" even have sound holes like a Hohner, hahaa!

I used to hang with an artist crowd a lot, a few of us formed an "artsy" band that played 'found art' creations (instruments) made by a member.

Below is the drum set, made mostly from an auto's gas tank , some empty copy-machine paper rolls, a few large cans and car hubcaps for cymbals. The guitar was made from a crutch (duh) and even with only 3 strings(I tuned to E-A-D when I played it) was quite playable. Note the holder for beer - probably the most important part, hahhaaaa!
