Yeah, the thinking is if he does use chem-bio warfare, because it's so unreliable in targeting that it will kill far more Iraqi civilians than allied forces, who are at least somewhat prepared for it.

Of course, should such horrible weaponry be used on anyone (again) it will be very difficult for any nation to remain in denial that Hussein has WMD. Even the most naive should have a revelation on that account!

BTW, I'd suggest a pitcher of Manhattans if I were up for imbibing....

I foresee that in the last minute Bush will talk Australia into

the war (maybe today before his speech) and that Israel will blatantly increase military activity in Palestine in the "backyard" of the Iraq thingy.....

Let's see if you can prove me wrong.

...sometimes I like to quote myself.... it took them a few hours only...

Quote:
Canberra commits troops to action

By CNN's Grant Holloway in Sydney

Monday, March 17, 2003 Posted: 8:40 PM EST (0140 GMT)

CANBERRA, Australia -- The Australian government has agreed to commit troops to likely military action against Iraq following a formal request for support from U.S. President George W. Bush.

Prime Minister John Howard told media Tuesday that disarming Iraq was in Australia's best interests and that taking military action now was the right and legal thing to do.

"This decision was taken at a cabinet meeting this morning following a further telephone discussion between myself and President Bush, Howard said.

You're correct ,Mike, that Israel - along with other civilized nations - will probably have to handle more terrorism as Hussein goes nuts in his last days. Afterall, as part of Iraqi-sponsored terrorism, he does pay out at least $25,000 per terrorist act. We have seen that there are those with no morals who will take the blood-money. So it is a safe bet that more terrorists will be need to dealt with in Israel in the upcoming days!

And you are correct that many nations choose to be on the right side of history. Some nations have been consistently on the right side of history/humanity, others have been just as consistently on the wrong side. That is a matter of history, not opinion, that can be easily verified quickly.

There used to be a saying; "Arbeit macht frei" - but that was proven to be not true. Arbeit nicht macht frei, Charakterstärke macht frei.

Nations, like individuals, are constantly faced with choices. And, as with individuals, nations must take responsibility for making choices - and just as importantly, for their indecision. Doing the wrong thing - or not doing the right thing - is usually the easist route in any situation. Very often making the right choice is not popular - history doesn't show the wisdom until a later date. Wer die Wahl hat, hat die Qual.

Or the ignorance...case in point...the RIGHT choice would have been to go in and help the Hungarians in 1956 when they rose up to fight for their freedom from what was then the Soviet Union...the US pondered the possibility of doing exactly that, but it was a highly unpopular course of action, not only in the US itself, but in every other free European country...so the Hungarians got to live under Soviet rule for another 34 or so years...and the US is still ridiculed today for NOT going in and helping them liberate themselves...damned if you do, damned if you don't...so go with your gut...and if it ain't the most popular action on the block today, so be it....time will tell...:cowboy

And VERY COOL UNDERBLURB!! THANX to whomever put it up...:yo

<<time will tell>>

Yeah, it always does get the final and definitive word in, doesn't it?

Hopefully we all learn from our past actions and inactions & apply the lessons accordingly the next time around.
