I think it's ascribed to Bhudda...
I just think it's appropriate,.. in these times....
_______________________________________________________________________________
We are what we think.
All that we are arises with our thoughts.
With our thoughts we make the world.
Speak or act with an impure mind
And trouble will follow you
As the wheel follows the ox that draws the cart.
We are what we think.
All that we are arises with our thoughts.
With our thoughts we make the world.
Speak or act with a pure mind
And happiness will follow you
As your shadow, unshakable. "Look how he abused me and beat me,
How he threw me down and robbed me."
Live with such thoughts and you live in hate.
"Look how he abused me and beat me,
How he threw me down and robbed me."
Abandon such thoughts and live in love.
In this world
Hate never yet dispelled hate.
Only love dispels hate.
This is the law,
Ancient and inexhaustible.

Very powerful.
I was just reading something last night that said:
The world's not the problem; you and I are.
The world's not in chaos; we are.
The world's apparent chaos is only a reflection of our own inner turmoil.
If the world reflects a lack of good sense, it's because each one of us reflects the same. If the world acts as if it doesn't know what it's doing, it's because each one of us acts the same. If the world is violent, and greedy, and heartless, and inhuman, and often just plain stupid, it is because you and I are that way.
So if the world is going to be changed, we must first change our lives!
Unfortunately, we haven't been taught to think that way. We are an "out there" society, accustomed to thinking in terms of them against us. We want to fix the world so that we can remain the same. And for an "out there" society, coming "inside" is a problem.
But now is the time to learn how. Now is the time to change.
Because unless we do, the chaos will remain.
And we can't afford this kind of chaos muchlonger.
We're simply running out of time.
Then came across an old Chinese proverb:
When you hear something, you will forget it.
When you see something, you will remember it.
But not until you do something, will you understand it.

I saw someone called doris post this one on the mp3 board...
i found the quote rather touching...
enjoy..
"Rules of Life"
By Confucius, who died 478 BC
The rule of life is to be found within yourself,
Ask yourself constantly,
"What is the right thing to do?"
Beware of ever doing that which you are likely,
sooner or later, to repent of having done,
It is better to believe in peace than in bitterness and strife.
It is better to believe in your neighbors
than to fear and distrust them.
The superior man does not wrangle.
He is firm but not quarrelsome.
He is sociable but not clannish,
The superior man set a good example to his neighbors,
He is considerate of their feelings and their property,
Consideration for others is the basis of a good life,
a good society,
Feel kindly forward everyone,
Be friendly and pleasant among yourselves,
Be generous and fair.
~~~~~~
The greatest man is he who chooses the right with invincible resolution;
who resists the sorest temptations from within and without;
who is calmest in storms, and whose reliance on truth,
on virtue, on God, is the most unfaltering.
-Channing
from the book; "The Joy of Words"
