Watched that movie again. Haven't seen it since sometime in the 80's.

But it was real good. I liked the part when Eddie asked his bandmate "If we're just a bunch of guys from Jersey and not trying to make anything meaningful, why are we doing it?" (Not an ezact quote).

That made me think. I tried doing what I wanted in music with what I had, at the time. Being poor meant alot of pirated software and the cheapest guitar/bass/keyboard/drum machine I could find.

So some of what I did did sound a little 2nd rate. Plus the fact that I had to do it all by myself. Not one bit of help from anyone. I didn't even have anyone to bounce ideas off of.

Just me, myself, and I.

So it did get a little discouraging. I stopped playing my songs for family & friends, because I knew what their reaction would be.

Then, after I started going to school & moved in with my bro, I stopped recording, completely.

It's like the inspiration just drained from me overnight. I didn't really want to top any charts or anything like that. I just wanted to be respected and have some folks dig what I was doing.

I mean, in 1999, I had no idea how to do anything, music-wise. I did what I did, not having a @#%$ clue.

I do have a few fans, somewhere in the world. Because I did get the occasional email from mp3.com saying what a great job I was doing.

And that makes me wonder how many, if any, are riding around with my music blasting from their cars, like I ride around listening to Red Joy Reid, Cerebral, Halou, The Psy, and other indie artists, like myself.

But back to Eddie... Eddie stood for the music. That was all that mattered to him. And he faked his own death after the studio suits told him his new album was @#%$.

He was crushed. I know it's fiction, but there are millions of artists out there who have seen the exact same thing. I got sick of auditioning for rock bands in the charlotte area for the same thing. I never really "fit in" with anyone's formula.

They all wanted axl rose or lynard skynard.

That wasn't my thing.
