i have lots of america goers in my family.. and the lavoll farm is now run by my aunt who is married to an american (hippie) who came to norway in the 70's to find his roots

his father again, who if i remember correctly went to america for 4 years, but got homesick and returned (although with a wife from... uhh.. idaho?)

and before that there was no camera in norway

That's a good long look at your history there, Jorn! Looks like someone in your family is probably into keeping records & geneaology.

You're probably right, Jorn - although Idaho is a bit further west than most Scandinavians went. Maybe it might be "Iowa" - it's here in the upper midwest part of the USA, where alot of Svensk, Norsk, Dansk and Finns settled. In the larger cities there would usually be a neighborhood nick-named "Snoose (snus) Boulevard" where Scandinavian folks lived & worked.

Well, lots of Scandinavians settled in the midwest. Maybe the winters reminded them of home?

Mine settled in NY. I guess they were too lazy to go much farther from Ellis Island.
