I havent gotten to play much with it yet, i have just compared it with the AKG414 on a classical guitarist so far.

the first thing i noticed it that the signal coming out of the mic is HOT. lots and lots of volume. I had to turn the mic preamp on the allen & heath desk to half! on the akg414 the preamp has to be almost cranked to full.

so the second thing to notice is that there is no noise :) nothing from the microphone and since the preamp in the desk is so low, there's nothing from the desk either.

the sound is very detailed, but in a very different way. with the akg414 there can be sharp sounds jumping out every now and then.. this sound is more.. stable might be the word to describe it.

it sounds a lot "rounder" and "warmer" but in reality what it might be is just "flatter" ..?

but the sounds is very very comfortable and pleasant to listen to. lots of prxomity effect also for that cousy snuggly sound when you get close.

and it just sounds so "clean". detailed, lovely, nice and clean.

im very extremely happy with the new microphone if you havent understood that yet :)

next ill try it on piano (i dont think it will be so good on piano) then on a singer.

Never heard this brand before. I'm intrigued - what made you buy it?

Congratulations! Not too shabby! :D :D :D

But as a true German I'd like to point out that the "unique look, technique and sound" is nothing else than a blatant copy of the NEUMANN CMV 3 from 1928 (right, nearly 80 years ago)...... ;) ;)

microphones are fun :)

with a mike.. uhh. mic like that old neumann, what would you stick it into? what kind of preamps etc? something equally vintage??

but a mic from 1928, thats so cool!

:) I have to check out that BLUE Baby Bottle microphone sooner or later! I heard good things about it.

Yeah! :D The CMV 3 was a milestone, constructed by legendary inventor Georg Neumann. It was THE radio broadcast microphone until the late 50's. Today you will

have to pay astronomical sums to buy one of the rare ones

left in functional condition.

"CMV" stands for "Condensator Mikrophon Verstärker"

(engl. condenser mic amplifier). It was originally connected

to some massive tube preamplifier :D :D :D

The CMV's nickname was "Neumann-FLASCHE" (engl. "Neumann-BOTTLE") :D

The famous recording of Haydn's "Streichquartett op. 47,1" 1991 (!!!!) was done using two Neumann CMV 3's :) )))
