My thesis is on Hong Kong's education system and whether it meets the needs of our service oriented economy... well this is a rather more vague description that the real topic, but thats it in a nutshell :D

So your mother was a teacher? how cool is that. I think teachers are so undervalued, and the impact good (and bad) teachers can have on little minds is seriously underrated. I do HR and Training for my company and am up to here in people development, from job skills to behavioural competencies and leadership skills. I love it.

Well I've sent out my online questionnaire, responses are dribbling in. The debate is what competencies are missing and who should be responsible for it. In a capitalistic society the government takes very little responsibility for education, so you have a weaker society with all its accompanying ills, because the poor simply cannot afford a decent education, dooming themselves to a life of poverty, sickness, crime etc. And industry (which capitalist govts rely on to push education) will only drive the education/vocations/skills they are interested in... interesting models to study are Germany and Singapore...

Anyway, I have to see what my results say and remain balanced in the writing. Right now I'm seeing a pattern in the responses which is pretty exciting though!!

Well, this is boring for people not doing my course, so less of that, less of that!!! :muede

Yep. My Mom was a Teacher.

Funny thing is? Being such a small town where I grew up, She was My Teacher in the 3rd grade. Wierd. I had to call her "Mrs. McEachern"..........

Love your mind, Ms. Mannas.

Would love to read your thesis...

Paul, yes, I feel like that. One day after I return from vacation it all seems like such a distant memory... sigh. Anyway, there'll be a next time, so something to look forward to! When I return from hols in India, I immediately make another booking 12 months down the line! hahahahaha
