from the greatly-exaggerated dept.

macdaddypunk writes "We all remember last December's grim news: MP3.com closed its doors, warning thousands of musicians that 'all your content will be deleted from our servers.' However, as the Wall Street Journal reports today, most of the original MP3.com archive was never deleted! Two companies, GarageBand and Trusonic, claiming to have a legitimate copy of the archive, are now enabling former MP3.com artists to visit www.MP3isBack.com and recover their MP3.com music, instantly re-generating their artist pages with just a few clicks. Trusonic, itself a Vivendi spin-out, focuses on licensing music to retailers for in-store airplay. GarageBand, like a HOTorNOT for music, offers free mp3 downloads and claims to host the definitive charts of independent music."

Debbie?

Do you have any songs online that are more "acoustic"..?

That is to say, with a more "natural" production? Fewer electronic loops and sequences....?

I like your voice, and your writing... - but I'm not crazy about the artificial production....

Anything with just your voice and just acoustic guitar and/or piano?

?

Click the smiley below.....:)

Drooly! :kizz

Actually I dont like the production of the songs at all. They the first few songs I wrote, and I got this young Chinese guy to do the backing at a really high cost. I tried explaining to him what I wanted, but they ended up being his influences instead of mine, a big mistake, since most people listen to very dated music here, even the young kids. Anyway, I was totally naive back in 1999 and just grateful that I had a CD!!!

I've done a total rewrite of Pay the Price, and Heisha perform it as a straight rock number - no funk of heavy production in there. The tune is different, and the end of the verses go up instead of dissappearing downwards, and it now has a hooky chorus. Its also called HARD LABOUR heh. All in all, a different song, but somewhat similar lyrics.

Hard Labour

You wanna house in a cul-de-sac

and the tax man off your back

you want it all

they gotta craw

but boy you dunno what you're gonna get

no, you dunno what you're gonna get

You got a huge 7 digit income

and an army under your thumb

you change the rules

to suit your moods

but boy you dunno what you're gonna get

no, you dunno what you're gonna get

Ch:

I bet you dont expect to do

Hard labour

but guess whats coming straight at you

hard labour

an extended sentence wasnt in the plan

now stand up and take it like a man

You live a life of personal gain

and you ride that gravy train

but redifined

you're in a bind

a fashion statement in prison stripes

oooo you'll wake up shaking cold as ice

m8

you wanna wife

a comfy life

2 kids in university, thats nice

but will you ever get to see em

no you're too busy keepin

your bankers and your tax accountants happy...

repeat ch to end

There are lots of nice breaks, and an 8 beat countdown before "Hard Labour"...

Drooly, do you sing any solos, or do you only do harmony vocals?

Well, since I manually deleted everything from empty3.cpm b4 the krash, this does naught for me.

I still want to see Heisha live. So either you gotta play in DC, or I need to get my happy a$$ to HK!

Heck, I'd go anywhere for lots of urrk! :lol

Seriously, I've never been to that hemisphere, but someday I really would like to go. HK seems like a really cool place to visit.

My company has customers in HK, China, Japan, Australia & Singapore, so it is possible I could get an assignment over there somewhere. That's always the best way for me to travel -- all expenses paid! :)
