I happen to agree with Larree on this one. There is a proper time and place for everything...and the Super-Bowl was the wrong time and place for that kind of sexual/aggressive activity (a male ripping part of her clothes off). The point is not if you find it offensive or not....the point is that you should be able to choose for yourself and your children what they do and do not see. Putting this "show" on, during a time when it was well known that kids would be watching with their families, during an event that has traditionally been "clean", takes that choice away from you as a human being and as a parent. That is not right...whether you find it offensive or not.

HUGE difference. I was performing my show with the porn girls chasing me with strapons onstage at an ADULTS ONLY venue, and Janet flashed her tit at all the kiddies watching a football game at home on TV with their mommies and daddies!
There is absolutely NOTHING hypocritical about my opinion!
It was not right to do that, and Janet and Justin are scum of the Earth to me.

Exactly! I know this and I'm not even a parent!

But the NFL can't use the footage of the finale now!
It's business!

everyone should get over it and applaud janet for not buying into the hypocritical 'puritan' views of our society
Well, 4teetoo, I don't have a politically correct bone in my body, but I think what was definitely wrong was the context:
He sez:"Before this song is through I'll have your clothes off" and then rips off her top. That, more than the bared boob question, is not the type of message that young boys watching a football game need to see & hear.
Quote: if a woman is breast-feeding a child in a mall, do you call her a whore and rush your children to the parking lot, planning a scathing letter to the mall manager?
I think anyone of us here who would see a guy rip off a girl's blouse in a mall would very likely flatten him and then call the cops. It's a matter of propriety, place and context.
This was just an ill advised PR stunt, reeking more of something desperate for singers worried about their slide into irrelevancy. Not artistic, nor erotic, but instead rather pathetic.
Great source for jokes, though, lol!

That tiny part will end up on the editing room floor, I expect, Larree - for official NFL DVD & tape sales. Of course anyone with Tivo recording the game will have the whole thing. But it was a multicam shoot and the producers have plenty of stuff to insert during the 1-2 seconds there, e.g. insert a cutaway shot of the crowd, but the music keeps going, then back to the fireworks finale; it keeps the continuinity.
Of course, any guy who would buy a DVD hoping for a 1 second peek at a part of Janet's rack....well - I just dunno....

Well, if I was editing I would a want a nice tight shot of the two of them for the finale. They ruined my picture with their stunt if I'm editing.

chris, no fears. I think you'd have to be wearing something (like Janet obviously was) that comes apart easily and quickly.
I wonder if this will effect the style of clothing women choose to wear? And in which direction?

You're 100% on spot, Chris. That was my criticism (above), ripping a girl's top off is not a positive image to put in young boy's heads!
If we were talking about a rape scene in an R-rated movie where it was essential to the plot, then the context would make sense to adults. But it's wrong in the context of "fun entertaiment at halftime".
The silly thing is it added nothing to the set, other than some bad PR for those involved. But many people believe that bad buzz is better no buzz at all. Toby Keith, Willie Nelson & Areosmith (especially)did a fantastic job of wowing the crowd, too bad their performances got lost in the J&J controversy.
There was much more good than bad on the whole entertainment-wise. The game itself started out sluggish, but got very competitive in the 2nd half. American football has a 1 hour game (that somehow lasts 3 hours, lol) divided into 4 quarter hours, with a break at halftime (after 2 quarters). If there's a tie at the end of the last quarter, it goes into "sudden death overtime", where the team who scores first wins. This game was pretty close, won by a field goal (3 points) in the last 9 seconds.
BTW, Chris, did you get the email with the attached prog?
