I'm listening to your tunes now. You pick a heckuva banjo! I like the contrast of using a folk instrument to play classical tunes. Ii think my favorite is "I Like Dark Blue Pie (Jodiego Mix)". Excellent soundtrack for mellowing out.

wow thanks! i used to do a lot fo "rock and roll banjo" in my bands, then one day i got fed up with the band thing and quit. figured i'd try solo banjo as a lark and see how it went. i had actually spent a long time working on real classical tunes as i thought that would be fun and interesting to play and hopefully for people to hear. the bach cello suites and some other baroque stuff caught my ear thanks to a dude named john bullard who was doing them too. i spoke with him several times and decided since he was doing them i'd not do them to avoid comparisons etc, so then i thought i'd write my own baroque-ish things and so that's what i've been doing. people like it when i do them live, i think it's the novelty of solo banjo doing something other than what they think of when they think of banjo. in live settings i toss in a few of the real classical things too for fun. people really dig that, probably more contrast as it's classical cello music coming from a banjo and played by someone with wastelength hair!



that dark blue pie thing was a lot of fun. jodiego is a uk fellow i am fond of. he and i did another tune together too, spiced out. dark blue pie is that paganini violin caprice and spiced out is a part of beethoven mandolin sonata in c major. it was a lot of fun doing those.
