This morning I was working on a project that involves several different Genres of music.... - all on the same CD.....
And I decided to opt out of the project...
Why, you ask?
(Well, even if you don't ask, I'm gonna tell ya.)
I don't like sudden extreme changes from one style to another - it shocks my synapses...
Don't get me wrong - I love variety (spice of life, yanno...) - but sudden, wide changes in genre on the same CD freak me out.....
Am I wrong?

It's like when I do a Radio show it's ok to sway from one Genre' to another but it needs to be a smooth ride. Putting together a playlist is an art by of it's own... You need to take your listener on a smooth ride when making a playlist. It's very simular to making a song all the pieces need to fit.

It always disturbed me to hear rap on a Rush album.

Well - the project I was referring to is not only several different genres, but also - each track is by a different (Montreal) Artist. With totally different mindsets.
I just couldn't find a way to make the whole thing "flow", so that listening to the entire CD made sense.
If all the tracks were by the same Artist, it would be a lot easier to do that.
The Beatles are an excellent example, Chris.. - they covered the whole spectrum, but it was always "The Beatles", and they could make the transitions with grace...

ya, if it's different artists i agree with you. i participated in a benefit cd project for the chesapeake bay foundation several years ago and it was all different bands and styles. in the end i didn't like the cd because it was just tooooo eclectic. and i like eclectic. i think you did right.
