One of my teles has a P-90 in the neck position. Awesome sounding pickup. The P-100's sound exactly the same with no hum. I wouldn't change a thing about my Blueshawk!

Got a nice natural finish dot-neck hard-tail 335. If you want to hear the clean sound from it have a listen to 'Madmen Do The Business' at www.mp3.com/thequestionnaires.

I also like to use a Strat, especially for rhythm work. I don't play live much these days, but I do 'deps' with various bands when their guitarists are on holiday or whatever, and I still find the Strat to be most versatile guitar you can get.

Instead of spending a huge amount of money on a vintage or a re-issue, I bought a cheap Mexican-built Fender and replaced the pick-ups with a set made by a guy from Northern England called Tony Burns, which included a humbucker on the bridge position. Tony's a top-class electrical engineer (he's in charge of the local power-station and he works as a consultant for academics designing new energy-sources) and he imported two of Leo Fender's original hand-winding machines and reconditioned them.

Hand-winding is the only way, he says, because factory machine-winding leaves little air-pockets all over the place, which interfere with the even distribution of the magnetic field. He recently got 4.5 stars out of 5 in a review in the 'Guitarist' magazine, and he recently sold sets to Chris Rea, Mark Knopfler and whoever plays guitar with Kelly Rowland. They're certainly the best I've ever heard, and also cheaper than the big-names. His details are on the bottom of the home-page on our website at www.thequestionnaires.com if you know anyone looking for a set.
