Steve H - wow!! That's a great survey and aren't the results VERY INTERESTING!! Over-30's it is obvious with responses like "Kids hog it all the time" :wgrin

I hear older people complain about that!!!

So people STILL rely on radio and TV mostly, very interesting.

Word of Mouth - that's an interesting perspective. Sometimes I've liked the stuff that other people have recommended and then hated other stuff that the SAME person recommends - so I tend to listen and make my own judgement. I'm well aware it works both away.... So I can kind of relate why it's quite low! hahahahaha

Word of mouth is one of the factors behind the Getmemusic CD Programme.

EXAMPLE:

1) Someone buys a GMM CD.

2) He / she plays the CD in their home, car or whatever.

3) His / her friends listen to the CD and say "who's that?"

4) The CD buyer tells them who it is and where he / she bought the CD.

5) The friends visit the site and browse for music.

6) While browsing, lots of music is being heard...artists getting exposure.

7) They buy CDs.

They play them in their homes, cars, whatever.

9) And their friends say "who's that?"

10) The whole process starts again....

MIKEY!! hahaha That's great thinking!! I love my friends dearly but some of them have dubious music taste - one friend who's known for playing and buying crappy CDs, last year we found ourselves listening to Morcheeba at his house - we were all like "WHo's this?" and it was the FIRST CD we liked that he liked - hahahahahahhahahahahahahhahaha

If certain of my friends recommend a CD I have no doubt about it that it is great. I know most of my friends failry well and know their music tastes. Selling CDs can go that way but mostly the way is through playing live,airplay, having a song on the jukeboxes and of course videos. Uh.. Net promo helps some too.

Now Pauline has come up with another way.Perhaps Mikey will expalin that. :boink

Yeah, Pauline my "partner in crime" at Getmemusic.com has come up with a really original promo idea.

Soon, we'll be touring local bars in our area and holding "Juke Box Jury" nights.

I don't know how well this vintage TV show is known worldwide, but the concept is this....

1) We get three or four members of the public to come to the stage to act as judges.

2) A song from Getmemusic.com is played. (Prior to its playing, we give a bit of blurb out the artist and song title etc)

3) The judges listen to the song. (and so do the audience obviously)

4) In turn each judge has to give their views about the song and have to say whether they reckon the song would be a Hit or not.

There will also be Gtmemusic CDs for sale at these Juke Box Jury gigs too. (See! We're not JUST going to sell CDs from the site)

The first of these gigs are booked for July ....and beyond.

Yep...the "judge" volunteers all get free drinks.

BTW....It wasnt MY idea....it was Pauline, my biz partner who thought of the event.

Soon u will hear hear songs as I will be producing her forthcoming CD.

(She writes folk-type acoustic songs)

Obviously, it will be released soon on our label.
