There was a fascinating programme on TV just this morn called "CHINA 21". To me the most interesting parts of any trip are usually in the more rural & off-the-beaten-path areas, moreso than the commerce & industrial ones.

hmm..I found a short note on the show I saw this morn.

you MUST. And at this time I think all inclusive tickets are going cheap. Wow, holidays till August. I cannot remember a time when I had that much vacation. sigh.

I'd agree with Ron - off the beaten track is great. But you might fare better in India or Thailand than in China on account of the food hehehe. Unless you want to eat exotic animals like civet cat etc hahaha.

:wgrin

But HK is a must see for two things - the food and the sheer energy, and of course the shopping. Its bustle morning noon and night.

Across the border from HK is Shenzhen (China) you can go to get tailor made outfits - at prices you would not believe. :party

Cheers!

Then, Ms. Mannas, you must become a Teacher....and as intelligent as you are, it would be of tremendous benefit to the kids you taught.

Course, you won't get rich doing it....but it is enjoyable, you make hundreds/thousands of friends for life, and you do have the time off...2 months in summer, 2 weeks at Christmas (here in the US).

And every young boy at YOUR school will have naughty dreams about YOU each night as your voice (from your CD) rocks them to sleep!! :eyes :aw :yo :lol

Ron - that program looks really interesting!!

Yes HK has food and energy and shopping. What was it I said to Steve; 4 million slim black haired ladies and one Chris Bowers :cute hahahaha You'd be shocked at some of the accepted habits here, it'll prepare you a bit for going into China hahaha

Shanghai - which I'm dying to visit - is a brilliant city that gives HK a run for it's money. The Great Wall - you got to see that. Did you know marijuana grows wild besides the Great Wall? Go to Xian and see the terracotta warriors - Go to Yunnan Province, the minority people and the food will amaze you. Xinjiang province - home to China's Moslem people - the women are simply stunning - Asian features with blue or green eyes, these are the people you can get smoke from :cute If you've been to Hawaii, you can travel to Hainan Island and laugh at what China considers to be the "Hawaii of China" - hahahaa I enjoyed it there myself.

And wherever you go in China, visit the parks - they are great - pagodas and people doing Taichi - also many individuals who will want to practice their English so you get a chance to meet local people and find out what their lives/thoughts are like - this is the best part for me. I've spent many a day in a Chinese park and found out some amazing things!!! In Guangdong I have the added advantage of speaking Cantonese to the locals and drawing huge crowds - hahaha Should use it to promote my next album!!!

I was once an English teacher - hahaha The school loved me, the students were OK, some were great but after I learnt how to teach, I moved on to do other things.....
