The band played the East-West Music and Dance Encounter at the Chowdiah in Bangalore, two times in a row.(The first time I wasn't in the band.) We also played a party at the Oberoi (where we stayed-what a luxurious place!), and a gig at A Touch of Jazz. We played a party for some tourists at Marari Beach, near Cochin. That place was amazing.
Our last time in India, we did a tour with Joe Beard. We played three places in Bangalore, some country clubs and a Catholic club. We played at some hotel in Cochin, a theater in Goa, and the club at our hotel in Goa (the Cidade De Goa). We were also in Mumbai, playing at a big concert hall (I don't remember the name), and a party at our Hotel. In all we had nine gigs in ten days. A bit too hurried, but a blast overall. I love India.
Where are you from Debbie?

When was this? I'm from Bangalore!!! Gosh I would have loved to have been there. The Catholic Club holds quite a few dances, but I didnt know they were into hiring overseas acts. Brilliant. What was the crowd like? Did you meet any artists from b'lore? Isnt the food in Kerala simply FANTASTIC (if your stomach wasnt a mess)??
It was before my time, but the story goes that when Uriah Heep came down to Bangalore, while they were performing someone from the audience ran up on stage and bit the lead singer in the butt, and since then foreign acts have been few and far between.
I've lived in HK for quite a while now, but when I was in Blore I did a couple of shows in Chowdiah - one was with a mixed group to raise funds (another fund raiser hahahaha) for a charity organisation another time was with the Bangalore Academy Choral - yeah I did some choral singing too.
I went to Goa with Starlight Express (I had to learn to skate in 6 weeks, and its not something I like to rehash), to Pune with the choir, and to Madurai representing the B'lore university in a competition, which I won for south india. Then I was supposed to go on to Delhi to represent South India for the final stage but when the Principal of our college came searching for me to tell me the news, I wasn't in class, on account of it was boring Moral Philosophy and I had skipped - I was laying on the grass with some pals and contemplating the universe. She was so pissed of (she was a NUN by the way...) that she refused to send me on for the finals. Alas, I will never know how my life might have been different sigh...
Nuns and I never did get along...

Debbie, to hopefully show you that I'm not really the person you think I am....
I will pre-order 10 of the CD's and have them shipped to any address you drop in my EZInbox, so wherever they are delivered, they can be re-sold and the additional money then donated to the fund....double the donation, so to speak...shipped to you if you want...just tell me where to send them...it makes no difference to me...I'll send them to 10 kids if you want...if I don't, say so and Mike can ban me forever...but bear in mind they won't be available to ship until June!!
If you would rather I not do this, say the word.
Not a joke or a con...I am serious...and I challenge anyone else here to do the same if you are able...
I'll be waiting for the address...and I apoligize for any offending remarks or behavior...politics, sex, religion; nobody wins, no matter what...
