Scanners and digital are a total hoot, Debbers....

Once you get through the learning curve, that is.

My next thing is video. I finally got a video of the Hobos onto my pc, but the audio didn't record.

Damn learning curves make me crazy.

What format are you converting the TOL video to, Chris?

Looks like a guy could maybe find a trusty old 8 or 16 track reel2reel in those digs if he poked about a tad.

Chris - Depends on what you'll be using it for, what kind of quality you want, the size, how it will be delivered (or just for download), etc. I usually use the freebie "Real Producer" to covert VHS tape to video (.rm file) because most people can view it. I have an inexpensive video capture card where I plug in the "RCA jacks" - that's another name for the usual audio/video plugs that videotape and stereo-systems still commonly use.

Does your new PC have audio/video inputs? If so, you prob can feed the signal right in from the VHS, as the Muttman suggested.

(Y'know, I'm wondering if it's the same VHS standard as in the US, I believe there is also a British VHS. I kinda thought HK VCRS would use what's called the PAL format.)

I'll be glad to assist if I can :)

Ron

Actually, I confused myself there, haha.

PAL is the usual format-standard used in HK - the US uses a diff VHS standard called NTSC. I should be able to remember these things, hahhahhaaa! :bonk

Oh I just found out - it's a Digital tape so I need to borrow a digital video to put into my computer. We have multi-video players here so we can play PAL or NTSC or even SECAM hahahahahahaha :banana

Chris, if you have WinXP, you probably have Windows Movie Maker bundled with it - that's the software I'm using.

It's fairly easy to use, and makes a file that's small enough for the web, but still reasonable quality, and plays perfectly with Windows Media Player.
