PST = Pacific Standard Time. This is the local time for California, Oregon, Washington (State, not DC) and other west-coast states.

6PM PST = 6PM in California

On US time zones - the link below might be of interest.

www.time.gov

Also by way of an hourly diff summary, from west coast PST(e.g. California) to East Coast EST(e.g. New York):

12 noon Pacific Standard Time - PST (4am - next day in Hong Kong, I believe)

= 1 pm Mountain Standard Time - MST

= 2 pm Central Standard Time - CST (my time zone, heheh)

= 3 pm Eastern Standard Time - EST

"Standard Time" is as opposed to "Daylight Savings Time" when most of America turns the clock back 1 hour in Autumn and ahead 1 hour in Spring.

Thank You everyone - this means for me that 5-6pm PST is the next day 9-10am - COOL! If you're wondering why I was asking - I'm going to do some ebay auctions and I was told that 5-6pm PST time is the best time to end an auction!

Standard is just that....standard.

With Daylight, you add one hour (advance the clocks one hour). This was originally incited to aid farmers back when America had an agrarian-based economy. It gave them more daylight hours during normal business hours to get their work done. Most Americans don't like it because it's a pain in the tookus, but for some reason the government won't change it. One or two states (I think Arizona and New Mexico?) don't do it. Daylight occurs in the spring, and goes back to Standard in the fall. Spring=ahead, Fall=back. Get it? ;)
