New Band Name

This week has been crazy. After taking a poll of God-knows-how-many-names (and umpteen emails), we finally arrived at a name everyone can live with. Mind you, it wasn't loved by all (cept me and Colin), but it had more all round acceptance than the others...

AnThenSome

Here's the Lineup

Lead/Rythmn Guitar: Colin Aitchison

Lead/Rythmn Guitar: Nick (aka Wig) Hawley

Bass/backing vocals: Ryan Bahde

Drums: Hugh Whitby

Vocals: Debbie Mannas

Songwriters (at the mo): Debbie/Wig/Ryan

We are having our debut gig on the 17th November, open air, at Discovery Bay, mid afternoon. Covers at the moment, but new stuff in the making pretty soon.

Life is soooo much fun.

Any comments on the name?

I don't like it. That's not to say that I don't like you Debbie. It just doesn't sound right. Can you hear them announce a grammy like this. This years grammy goes to AndThenSome. :lol

Sorry but I think that you all can come up with something better.

Its the same as any band name, I guess, it grows on you and saying it becomes one word. At least this one is not in bad taste and its very meaningful without being cheesy.

It was too too difficult to get everyone to agree on anything, and we had to make a decision fast to promote the gig, which is just about a week away. There were some really good names, but one or the other didnt like em.

Ah well

Auto, dont you ever sleep???

We had over 80 names. Too many to list and any names I or anyone come up with will have to be voted on. Which means the same merry-go-round. Actually, the original name was

EnZenSome.

but some said it would be too much to explain, and that it sounded like nSync (God forbid). So we went back to the drawing board and couldn't agree on anything. I'm not going there again. Between work deadlines and batting names around, I've had one helluva week!

But thank you. Now if I could've thought of Addiction first...

Thank you ever so much. I hope I didnt sound rude or unappreciative. I wish I could get all the best ideas from everyone, especially someone who came up with a name like The Addiction - that's a great one!

This is when the damn smilies don't do enough.

But alas, even the best suggestions will have to have 5 people's approval... aaaaarrrrgh. At the end of it yesterday, all of us were going - WHATEVER!!! But its a great group. I've been reading stories about choosing a band name - bands often fall apart because of disagreements over the name. I'm glad that didnt happen to us!

Yeah, thas me. Part of a broadway thingy the HongKong Singers put out this year, Hey Mr. Musical... Getting into a nun's costume is really character building. I tell ya.

I had names like Trace Elements, Altered Elements, Third Culture Survivors... Sanitation Workers, Justified Insanity...didnt sell.

Ah well.

yes, the important thing is that we can all live with it. We may change it down the road, who knows.

how does YLEM sound?

It's pronounced ILEM and means the initial substance of the universe from which all matter is said to be derived.

That'd be a cool band name.

You should call it

"Free Fall Conspiracy"

and use

F=M x A ..surrounded by a flower shape

as your logo

Your first album will be entitled ""Air Farmers"..and will show the whole band in free fall surrounded by free falling flowers , each of you with various various farming tools in hand...a Hoe, Rake, etc....
