I see very little flaming at this place, (or at least it's not tolerated..)

Are discussions about music allowed here?

This is a nice forum cause I walk all over it with my boots :banana

I promote this board to people in Hong Kong & my family so I don't tolerate swearing.

Please do talk about music - you can do it here or at Mike's board at: pub40.ezboard.com/fmymp3boardfrm1

So do you have music online? Can I listen to it? :)

hhahahahaha Generally yes I'm in three bands at once; there's the Sisters of Sharon - you've probably heard of them ;)

Then "Thinking Out Loud" my favourite band at the moment - www.acven.com/thinking/index.html - going to have some music uploaded in a couple of weeks time.

Plus I'm taking part in another band called "PNS". Unfortunately my teen Christian band has fallen apart as everyone has gone to University.....!!!! hahahaha

Now checking out your music :banana

Which one are you? Do you also sing? Out of the first three songs, I like "More Than Beautiful" very much - very Beatlesque - esp. the vocals :)

I will listen more later on this week. Thanks for the URL :banana

I write all the music, lyrics and do all the arrangements..

The vocalist is Dwight + a couple lady vocalists who have done some demos for me..

I'll give SOS a listen in the next few days..

Hi Gregg!

WOW! You're talented then - they have nice arrangements and you can compose in different styles - very cool.

I take it you don't sing? Why's that?

But I have alot of upper respitory damge from nitrogen dioxide exposure when I was young.. (That comes from corn..)

I grew up on a farm and part of my responsibilty was empting out the silos for the cattle and that meant usually 1-2 hours daily inside of a silo forking a few tons at a time out of it and then later taking it to the cattle. (All silos are sealed now and it's illegal to enter one when filled, they didn't know the danger then though..)

So that was pretty much a daily thing from about age 10-15 so I have got sort of an emphasema condition from that so singing's really out of the question for me..

My singer Dwight is great though and his voice fits the songs better than mine ever would anyway..

I've gotta run a few errands so I'll give SOS a good listen later on today..

Oh Gregg, sorry to hear you have an emphasema condition - that doesn't sound like much fun :( Does it hurt when you talk? Do lots of people who work on farms get this? Where is the nitrogen dioxide coming from? Am I asking too many questions?

Farm? A REAL farm? WOW! With cattle?! I'm a city girl. I saw my first cow when I was 15! :)

No, no pain in talking or really any, and I'm not really sure it's emphasema either, because I've been quite athletic most of my life. (A doctor friend who specialises in that field tells me this is what it is though..)

I first became aware of it at about 15 when I played basketball.. (I would just become dizzy and disoriented so I couldn't compete at a high level..) If I try to sing I run out of breath quickly to the point I have to stop or pass out.. Like I said, I had a voice at one time, there's really nothing left to it..)

The corn ferments in silos and a person would always feel intoxicated after working in one. It actually produces several types of harmful gases but the damage done besides to the lungs, is to this tube that I cannot find the name of (or rememeber at the moment)

It's irreversable and just leaves singing out of the question.. But like I said, it's not that big of a deal..

Boy, you want into the major leagues now don't you?? (That's some great work Chris..)

I lisyened to "Good-bye" first, like the harmonies much, was trying to pick out an acoustic rythm but couldn't quite make one out.. (only can lo-fi, is there one there??) the lead guitar work is great, not overpowering like you hear so often, but perfect for the song.. )Who's the lead vocalist??)

"You're S Star" came up next, reminede me a bit of The Bangles, but with more of an edge.. If the lead vocalist could gind it a bit more towards the end it add to the song, but it's great just the way it is.. (Cool lead guitar work again..)

Then I heard "Stuck In A Rut" and it's cool like the others, I just with I had better streaming..

Oustanding work Chris.. (And this is only one of your bands???)

Very good..

Gregg!

You got high from fermented corn? Why do people ferment it?

It sounds like you are very matter-of-fact about it all,. Good for you. You have many obvious musical talents. I'll have to listen to some more of your tracks in the morning. It's a bit late now for me.....

AHA! You listened to some Sisters songs :) Thank you. Very kind of you. Goodbye - that's me on lead vocals & acoustic guitar - so you heard right. You're A Star - I do backing vocals & lead guitar. Stuck in A Rut - again I do the backing vocals & lead guitar....

Hey have a great Wednesday! Your comments are great - I like the reference to the Bangles too :) :banana

It's harvested in the late fall and the entire stalk is ground up into small pieces by what's called a picker. A few steps later it end up in what's called a silo which are a cylinder type structure, out made from cement block, about a 20 foot diameter and the 4 we have average about 40 feet in height..

When it goes into the silo it's green and it has to be done in a very methodical way.. (meaning it's stacked or packed dpwn correctly tp lessen spoilage..)

A fresh silo will have litte spoilage but when it empties and you have to open a new one, the top 2-4 feet will not be fit for consumption and if the edges are not packed properly, that will not be usable..

It teand to be lighter at the top but near the bottom it becomes much more moist from the rain, ect, amd the odors can becomes overbearing in a short time..

So it's a natural fermentation I guess.. But that's how you keep cows fed through the winter months when they must remain indoors, if you want to keep them healthy and able to produce large quanities of milk..

(So I hope thatanswers that question..)

Thanks for the compliments on my music Chris.. (I'll be lisyening to more SOS and the music on the other link to..)

You gotta great sound Chris..

Wow Gregg! You DO know a lot about the process. Wonderful to realise it's to enable cows to eat during the winter months. You don't still work on a farm nowadays do you? There must be lots of happy memories? Is it true what they say about country air? :banana

Thanks for answering my questions. I just didn't know how dangerous farming can be.......

I need to make a page of links to musicians I like online and add you to it :) Have a fabulous weekend!

Chris
