Hi everyone!
Spent Sunday at a fishing village festival on an outlying island called Cheung Chau. Tons of vegetarian Buddhist food (did you know that doesn't include garlic or onions?)
Just realised that I don't actually have any photos of the buns...... But here are some colourful sights for anyone who browses the blah blah board here....
Hakka ladies who are demonstrating dragon-boating.
A purple dragon!!
There were many children who appeared to be floating above their floats!!!

It's a beautifully laid out board too In fact it's one of the best looking boards I've seen
Oh I forgot this photo, it's from the chicken ceremony where they were dancing about with a chicken, then they pretend to garotte it and then set it free at the end. I was perched on a chair with people around me so only managed to get this one shot......

I thought it was a sacrificial ceremony except that it's tied up with Buddhist beliefs - there was lots of veggie food about (you ever tried fake barbequed pork?). I need to find out more - this festival just happens on Cheung Chau - doesn't happen on Hong Kong island etc. Some fishing folk from our island were there also.
