The Musicians for the West Memphis Three CD Project



Firstly, I'm sorry if this is somewhat spammy in nature. I'm just trying to get the word out about this project and the plight of the West Memphis Three. If you have ANY questions at all, please contact me and I'll see about getting your questions answered ASAP.



The CD Project:

Thanks to generous donations from Ampcast.com and Cormac Strain, The Musicians for the West Memphis Three are currently working on several CD productions. 100% of the profits from these CD's will go towards one of the current West Memphis Three related funds. As there are several different funds setup to help the West Memphis Three, the selected fund is subject to change depending on which is in more need of cash flow.



The current fund is the Damien Echols Defense Fund



The Idea:

The idea is simple. Musicians can donate a song (or songs) they wish to appear on the CD's. This can be any current completed song or a song written about the West Memphis Three, or both. Songs included on the CD's will be available for lo-fi streaming at ampcast.com. Not every song involved will be made available for lo-fi streaming at one time. There will be a limited number of selected songs per CD and this selection will change periodically.



There are currently several CD's planned.

1) Genre specific compilations -electronic, heavy metal, rap, etc.

2) A CD entirely filled with songs about the West Memphis Three.



Each CD will include full credits for the artists involved including name, contact information (e-mail or URL), song title, and writing credits.



Each CD is expected to be approximately 1 hour in length.



Artists that write several different styles of music are encouraged to "donate" more then one song to help fill the various CD's.



Artists retain full copyright ownership of the music but agree to allow The Musicians for the West Memphis Three use of the songs for this charity purpose. Artist receive no compensation from the sales of CD as this compensation is donated to the current West Memphis Three fund. Artists agree to allow The Musicians for the West Memphis Three to publish their "donated" songs on one or more CD's for an indefinite length of time. The Musicians for the West Memphis Three receive no compensation from their involvement in this project. Their time involved in putting this project together and managing it is donated.



Artists may choose to remove their songs from the current list and no longer be included in future CD compilations but songs can not be removed from any CD in production.



Also important to note: You don't have to be a member or have a webpage at ampcast.com to be involved in this project -this was a question asked several times already. The Musicians for the West Memphis Three will act as a project manager and will upload your selected songs to ampcast for you.



Ampcast.com will handle CD production, sales, shipping as well as providing E-commerce for this project. Checks from the CD sales will be made out quarterly by Ampcast.com and sent directly to the current fund.



The Statement:

Many artists have been hesitant to simply claim "Free the West Memphis Three". This project is not out to just claim their innocence or set these three free, it is designed to help them get a fair and honest trial to prove their guilt or innocence -something we feel has not happened yet. These legal proceedings cost money and this is the purpose of this project.

He will contact you on the best way to get your selected songs to us.
