October is bringing early sunsets and cold weather into the northern hemisphere, at the same time our usual bass player Werner Wenzlitschke needs apparently a longer time to sort his life out (family, job, new flat in another town). We work meanwhile extensively with two other solid bass players who joined our band without hesitation, Boris Mittelstädt and Hartmut Hillmann, who help us to fill the gap when Werner can't make it and enable us to play our program and jams live without problems and date-coordination-mishaps.
However, just in that situation and out of the blue, we learned that we will meet a good old friend again for a few weeks!
From February 5th. - 26th. of February 2007 the mikeburn and friends band incl. Kate Cassidy will do a small tour through Europe (Germany, Austria, Belgium, Netherlands) with Kai Eckhardt on bass-guitar joining our band.
I think we will name it:
"mikeburn and friends feat. Kai Eckhardt"
-Rocking Europe with positive vibes-
Check the "Gigs section" of our homepage for updates in the next weeks. Maybe you can make it to visit at a date near your location!
Kai is of German decent and was raised in our neighbourhood, a pal of our percussion player Delta and also a friend of mine. Meanwhile he became a American citizen and is widely considered to be one of the most influential electric bassists alive today.
He is best known for his work with the John McLaughlin Trio and the band Garaj Mahal.
He graduated Berklee College of Music in 1987.
Highlights include engagements with: Billy Cobham, Stanley Clarke,
Wayne Shorter, Alphonse Mouzon, Randy Brecker and Steve Smith.
Currently, Kai tours with "Garaj Mahal" and the Indian Jazz band "Summit"
(featuring George Brooks, Steve Smith and Zakir Hussain) as well as the European based "Timucin Sahin Trio".
What should we say except of the fact, that we will embrace every moment he joins our band on his return to his homeland for a few weeks of musical fun, together with old friends, and we truly feel very blessed, as well as being curious for the musical outcome!
Check his homepage www.Kaizone.com or his MySpace page for audio-samples and videos if you have time on your hands. _________________ .

Kai is briliant!! Just checked out his myspace page!
You guys are so lucky in Europe - you can play SO MANY OPEN AIR concerts!!! HK is so small and space is a premium so playing outdoors is not a viable option....... _________________ http://undergroundhk.com
