Well, it's a safetycatch, this option to ban political parties whose programs and actions are a violation to the constitution.

A political party that shows the exact same tendencies and violates the constitution in the exact same way NSDAP did (and is only an S and an A from being written the same way)?

In the same country? You decide.

Beckstein, who started the ban-agenda in 2000, was only worried that the NPD would take votes away from CSU (as CSU had openly proclaimed the impossibility for them to reign with the NSDAP, it would not look good if they did it in the following couple of years).

I wouldn't ban, I would simply rebuild the wall.

It does seem a bit dictorial, this banning of of political parties, to the American senses. But Europe has a different political culture and mores due to it's historically problematic political instability. Hence the diff.

In the US the whole spectrum of thought - political and otherwise - abounds. That includes the lunatic fringe of the left and of the right: and all of the stops in between.

It's just not very likely that the American populace will rush to join either the KKK party or the CPUSA (Communist Party USA).

America is a unique nation in that it's composed of an incredible diversity of viewpoints (that's not to say that they are all valid viewpoints.) More than enough to keep us bickering amongst ourselves for centuries, LOL!

So it's up to if us if we choose to take a political tract from someone handing them out on the streetcorner. Or we can choose to just totally ignore them and pass by.

I wouldn't brand the entire Europe with anything that obviously is an entirely German national political issue.

The McArthy era sure wasn't the hallmark for human rights and democratic freedom (nor is depending on the pockets of big business to be able to build a base..).

Well, it seem that Mr Papier was out to lunch on this one.

No news on the wall, though.
