Singer Linda Ronstadt was thrown out of the Aladdin casino in Las Vegas on the weekend after dedicating a song to liberal filmmaker Michael Moore and his movie "Fahrenheit 9/11," a casino spokeswoman said Monday.

Ronstadt, who had been hired for a one-show engagement Saturday night at the Las Vegas Strip casino, dedicated a performance of "Desperado" to Moore and his controversial documentary.

That dedication angered some Aladdin guests who spilled drinks, tore down posters and demanded their money back, said casino spokeswoman Sara Gorgon.

About a quarter of the 4,500 people in the audience got up and left before the performance had finished, Gorgon said.

"Ms. Ronstadt was hired to entertain the guests of the Aladdin, not to espouse political views," the casino said.

Dumbasses never learn.

"Desperado, why don't you come to your senses?"

Yeah, I can see why they threw her out.

Ronstadt To Return to Las Vegas

Linda Ronstadt is set for a speedy return to the casino she was reportedly ejected from last weekend - for a performance with filmmaker Michael Moore. Ronstadt's run of shows at Las Vegas, Nevada's Aladdin complex was brought to a halt on Saturday after she dedicated a song to Moore, the controversial director of Fahrenheit 9/11 - upsetting fans who disagreed with the filmmaker's movie attack on American President George W Bush. Many fans walked out of the show and some ripped down posters in protest. Ronstadt was later escorted from the premises. But, thanks to negotiations between the Recording Artists Coalition and the prospective new owners of the Aladdin Theater, Ronstadt is slated to return to the venue later this year. And she'll be taking Moore with her. In a letter to the Aladdin management, Moore stated his disappointment in the decision to axe Ronstadt's shows and offered to duet with her on "America The Beautiful" if the singer was invited back. He plans to make good on his promise. Planet Hollywood boss Robert Earl, the prospective new owner of the venue, says, "We hope to be approved by the Nevada Gaming Commission to become the new owners of the Aladdin Resort in Las Vegas as early as September 1, 2004. Upon the assumption of ownership, and with a new management team in place, we would like to offer the use of the Theatre of Performing Arts to Linda Ronstadt for a second concert and further to take Michael Moore up on his offer to join her on stage to introduce her and sing a song."

Concertgoers leave Wente Vineyards early after Linda Ronstadt's pre-encore remarks Thursday evening

By Bonita Brewer

CONTRA COSTA TIMES

LIVERMORE - Linda Ronstadt's political message sent close to a hundred concert-goers home early Thursday evening.

What had been a mellow evening at Wente Vineyards, with the crowd even serenading her with "Happy Birthday"

at one point, turned into a rush for the exits by some fans angry by her encore tribute to filmmaker Michael Moore.

"She just had to do it," one fan steamed as he headed for the parking lot. "It was good until the end," another yelled

to TV crews waiting outside the concert.

"She's getting out of line; it's ridiculous," said Cindy Williams of Livermore, as she left during the last song of the evening.

Ronstadt's encore dedication of the song "Desperado" to Moore, the controversial maker of "Fahrenheit 9/11" who

she described Thursday as "a great American patriot," got her booted from a Las Vegas casino Saturday and drew boos

and a few "traitor" yells from the Livermore crowd.

The Old Windbag needs the free promotion.

Thanks for letting us know where Planet Hollywood stands. I'll make a note of it.

:D

I still don't understand why it matters so much. It's a fucking movie!!! Grow up!!!!! If I went to a concert of a band I liked and they said 'When you leave here tonight, remember that with God all things are possible', I wouldn't get angry or upset. Even though I personally disagree with their beliefs I only see them trying to extend positivity. Ronstadt's belief in Michael Moore is an attempt at extending something she believes will be positive. Geez, disagree but don't turn into a four year old whining bitch who forgets all levels of decent behavior (throwing drinks in a lobby?!?!?!?!?!). And anyone who goes to a Ronstadt concert after the Vegas thing and gets pissed off when she does it again is simply an idiot and well-deserving of their ill-temperment.

My music for the disenchanted masses

She was paid to perform songs for the people who paid the venue to see her...if they wanted to hear a political sermon, they would have gone to a political rally.

Exact same thing would have happened if some artist had been up there PRAISING Bush and his "accomplishments". The other half of the crowd would have stormed out pissed off and demanding their money back.

Don't know about you, but when I PAY to be entertained, I don't want to hear about some entertainer's political views, whether they agree with mine or not. I'm probably there to get AWAY from all that shit anyway. I think that's a reasonable expectation from the fans and the venue owners.
