i never have, but am curious although i would not want to really do it in my house.
i have read a lot and those who treat spirits with dignaty and respect do well, those who use them for like party games do not.
i will say this i would never do it with out being in a cast circle/sacred space.

I was curious about what or if any of you had experiences with a ouiji board. Good or bad. Some people I know have had really wild--hair raising things happen to them with theirs and vow never to use it again. How many of you use any electronic ones on the net? I've used both and have found them to both work at certain times. I use tarot cards the same way. Of course there's nothing like the real thing where you can feel them in your hands.

Because I know what the heck I'm doing and respect the power of ouija board, WARD it and cast a protection circle before using it and cleanse it before every use and after every use I have personally had no problems only positive experiences. My fiance and his sister and some other people into the occult I know have had nothing but the coolest and best experiences with ouija boards!
Now this next part my come across as being smug, pompus, arrogant, b****y, harsh, cold and down right mean and nasty. If I offend you I appologize right now! I'm very sorry. On the other hand I have had to be part of the clean up crew way too often because some IDIOT was messing with the ouija board and treated it as if were just a stupid game and had no bleeping clue WHAT THEY WERE DOING. The stupid people knew didn't bother to cleanse and purify the board before using it and after using it too. Come on how hard is to sprinkle salt on something. Then the foolish MORONS looking at it as JUST A GAME failed to ward the board and yes CAST CIRCLE!!!! I don't know how many problems have occured because people don't cast a protective circle with the ouija board. (BAKA!!!!) So me being a part of the clean up crew because the person now has all these poltergeists and really icky things they want gone YESTERDAY!!!
If I just came across as thinking myself superior, pompus, cold, mean, b****y, harsh and arrogant I apologize. I just get TIRED breing on the clean up crew. It takes a ton of energy to get rid of things that the inhabitants INVITED in. I rather use my energy for other things like throwing a big party for Marduk, Kali Ma, Shiva, The 8 Myoo, Monkey King, Hatchiman, Venus Susanno, Quetalqatal and every other powerful being and diety out there and of course all the lovely retrogrades too!
I am getting too old for all this crap! LOL! Why me?!?!?! LOL!

Well, I've had some interesting experiences, varying from the pointer leaving the board and climbing a wall with three of us holding on or dear life, a coin vibrating and getting a few degrees warmer, to a spirit refusig to leave till one girl sang for it, to a really sweet one who told us things that actually came true a year or so later. I agree...one must show a lot of respect for the spirit and the board itself. Casting a circle is helpful, but if the pointer moves in a circular manner, ask the spirit to leave. It is usually evil. It is advisable to keep silver around you - somehow that deters evil spirits. And of course, always be polite.

Personally I would encourage people to use oiuja boards recklessly around myself because I like cleaning up afterwards - it gives me something to do which is challenging but no impossible!
However, I am in the minority since most people I know who do clean-ups find the whole affair rather exasperating. The way I see it Dracopheonix is if it's there, why not use it and then get rid of it (presuming it is something that can be used, of course).
I have never used a ouija board myself, however, and if I did I would probably seal it first (unless I really felt like just cleaning up afterwards - at least I clean my own mess).

Well, I advocate caution as I have seen a whole family get wiped out for messing with a board.....a bunch of brothers called the spirit of a dead bishop and he cursed them....after which all of them died violent deaths and so did their sons, if they had any. The only survivor was a sister and that was because she was not using the board that day.....of course, another reason was because they were disrespectful of the spirit so it got angry.

I'm not too sure about the power of spirits.
I have seen them mess up people's minds but only the minds of people who were either pretty messed up to begin with or pretty weak-willed. I could mess up minds like that if I wanted to (and sometimes do so by accident). Then again, maybe that is simply because the weak-minded do not work correctly with spirits in the first place.
As for the other powers attributed to spirits; I can make a room go cold by turning on a fan or opening the fridge/a window; I can make a room smell of lavender simply by sprinking lavender.
To be honest I can think of no ability attributed to spirits which normal humans could not either do or fight against (they can appear in dreams but lucid dreaming can be trained and then any normal person could prevent them).
If anyone can think of any abilities which spirits have and are both unmimickable and undefendable I'd be really interested to know, but perhaps that's going off topic for this post...

All I can say is-
Door way to the spirit world, or your own mind?
I feel the boards are rather like a simplified version of Auto-writing. You may be tapping into spirits/higher beings or your own subconscious. To be honest I don't think they should be messed with- how would you like it if you were an entity and people were making you use a board to communicate? No wonder they get angry...

I'm with Lord Ruthven on this one, the people who get in trouble with this sort of thing are usually already a little troubled anyway. I also agree with SheDemonWolf, I believe it's more like tapping your higher self then an outside force. I believe that we are all connected to everything that exists, so when we channel, work with entities, or work with Oujii boards we are merely opening up that connection to that part of our higher selves. People who get in trouble with the oujii often don't have clear minds so they may inevitably be putting themselves at risk. Magick is a mind altering expiriance, without precaution you may find yourself going KooKoo .
How best to put this.... A little knowledge is a dangerous thing. It would be better for them to not even bother then to assume they know everything. If you don't take the time and effort to completely learn what you are doing it just might blow up in your face.
Blessed Be

I would have to say a Ouija board fits under the paranormal activity theory that the 'people' using the board are causing the movement with their mind. I have a Ouija board and I have tried using it on several occasions, and mostly it does nothing for hours on end, unless someone else is on with me, then they cheat and try to be sly and move it themselves. I do think it is possible that someone could tap into their subconscience and have a message which is barried deep within their own mind kind of written up infront of them.

Used it. Scared me. Believe in the power.
My philosophy is I don't want to muck with powers that I am not ready spiritually to deal with.

Well, most of the guys died in circumstances beyond their control...two died in car accidents where other vehicle was the one at fault.....and the family was not unstable in any way.....normal guys with very normal lives..... they just got complacent and took their talent for granted......anyway, this event happened in the early 1900s.......one of the original guys does have a grandson....he's my age.....just when he turned twenty one, he got cancer on his foot and can no longer walk and his life has been messed up ever since...no guy somehow lives beyond the age of thirty....somehow all the women in that family escaped the curse.....I dont think the subconcious mind can be that active.

The Ouiji board gave an answer to a horrific event (a friend of mine killing someone in a DUI) that no one else in the room, other than myself, knew about. My fingers never touched the board or the pointer.
It has also given good advice, but that one instance scared the beeJesue out of me and I haven't touched a board since.

It always amuses me that people use these things and are prepared to 'believe' in them, but when they get something they consider to be absolute proof of their effectiveness they turn away in fear
I am not laughing at you, Doh - I have been there before and I know many others who have also We learn a lot of indespensible information about ourselves from these strange behaviours.

Sometimes, though, the Ouiji scares the living hell out of me. I have seen too many people who have "played" with it get truly messed up. I know a lot of it is their own fault, but I just don't know if I, myself am ready to confir with it regularly.

A story my mom once told me about the Ouija board was that one time when her and my two sisters were playing with it, they were talking to some murder of some sort, and they insulted him somehow, and my sisters hair went up in flames for about 30 seconds, then just went out. Whats wierd is there wasn't one singed hair on her head.
Also it is spelt Ouija...

Well, depending on your beliefs you would want to make some sort of protection from unwanted spirits, whether you cast a circle, or call on a demon to protect you, whatever works. Be respectful, and remember, even though Toy's r Us sells it, it is not a game.

normal people are so amusing though. Exspecially the "enlightnend" ones. I love graveyards they're so peaceful none of that nasty living habit of speaking all the time. In graveyards people generally seem happy with being quiet I loveplaces like that.

I once saw a beautiful graveyard which is more than 200 years old.... it was along a mountainside and faced snow capped mountains....when the sun would set, the mountains seemed to turn a lovely shade of orange and gold.....also, the whole place was covered with hill flowers and pine trees and smelt wonderful as a result.....now thats a place I could have stayed for a long time.. sigh.

Here are some safety measures when using an ouija board:
1. Don't use an ouija board in places with lots of 'earthly entities' such as reputedly haunted houses, graveyards or sites of disasters, mass death or tragedy.
2. Never use the Board alone....three is a good number of participants.
3. As I said in an earlier post, wear silver, or use a silver coin instead of a glass or planchette, as silver is supposed to be a protection against evil spirits.
4. Say a prayer or cast a circle before you start.
5. Trust the people who are using the ouija board with you.
6. Clean the board once with a clean cloth to remove negative energies, especially from a previous session.
7. Decide which person will ask the questions or the order in which you'll ask questions.
8. You don't need to use the candle light spooky effect to attract spirits.
9. Don't play music as it distracts.
10. Place flowers in a vase nearby somewhere as spirits are drawn to them. (Even water has the same effect)
11. Only ask personal questions once you're comfprtable with whom you have called. If there are problems in the session, ask the spirit to depart and don't have another session that day. Also try to remove the negative residue the spirit might leave.(smudging etc)
12. Ask preferably positive questions.(Dont ask the spirit to harm others or control others)
13. Make sure to say 'Goodbye' to anyone or anything you contact with a ouija board to let the entity know that you're done talking to them and they should leave you alone. Otherwise, you might have an an invisible presence following you around for the rest of your days.
14. Don't get addicted to using the board for everything.

I have another question. Does the place you call the spirit matter in terms of the spirit responding?

Well, the place as far as I am aware does not really matter....I've seen a girl actually use the board at the back of a classroom (after class, of course) and get amazing results....as long as it is not in a graveyard, haunted place or place of a tragedy, any place should be fine.

Hi, thought I'd tell you my experiances.
First off I have to agree with Dracophoenix, There are some people out there that cause more trouble with them than it's worth. More than once I've been stuck helping and cleaning up friends messes. One of the biggest problems when useing the thing is that most people don't have common sense. There I got that out of my system if anyone wants to know what my stupid friends did, just Persoanl message me, and I'll tell, I just don't like telling stuff like that on public space.
Anyway for my personal experiance: I've had some great ones and some horrible ones. Goood ones: nice sprits looking to talk, telling the future, causeing music to be played, even teaching soem stuff.
Bad experiances: being attacked by a pointer, candles being lite and almost causeing a fire, But by far the worst that's happened to me personally is: My parents house is over 100 years old and the whole street has a bad history. My house has atleast 7 individual spirits and at least 1 other that is not a ghost or even human. Well we wer useing the board and this other entity got in ( Iprobably didn't put up enough protection). Over the course of the next hour it reaped havok on the house: moving objects, shaking rooms, causeing the other ghosts to act up and become dangerous. it was a fun night. The worst part was that the thing would not leave. It took alot of effort and strain to get it out. Even then the house was horribly active for over a week.
Moral of the story: Boards are great for contacting spirits, even ones close by (I've used it manytime when searching a haunted house) BUT you must know what you're getting into.

i do believe heavily in the board, though i would never use one. i spend most of my life communing with the spirits of nature both alive and dead, anymore would just overload me. so this is one aspect i think ill skip on.

As long as you're careful and protect yourself, it should be safe to use them. I was told by someone a while ago (a long while ago) that you need to be careful about calling on something that you feel any negative energy towards. She told me it can rebound on you. Just stay in touch with the world outside the Oujia.
The reason I haven't used a Oujia board in so long is this:
When I was in high school, me and some friends got together and started talking to a spirit. All of the sudden, the entire atmosphere of the room changed. The spirit that we had been talking to seemed to disappear and the room got very cold, candles went out and the board gave us a date and asked my friend Kirk what he had been up to. He was only in the room. He wasn't touching the board. The date was a date that only he and I knew. It was the date that he was involved in a drinking and driving accident (he was driving while drunk) that claimed the life of someone else. Then in the background, an evil chuckle started and got louder and louder until a tree branch crashed through my window. At that time, the pointer flew off of the board and hit Kirk in the head, causing a nasty cut that required 10 stiches and took forever to heal.
That is the reason I haven't touched one in a long time and why they still scare the crap out of me.
Who knows? Maybe I try one a little later.
Hell, that felt pretty good to get that off of my chest.

Want to prove Ouija can affect you? Fine: Use it ALONE in a dimly lit room Ask for Satan. Ask Him if he is in Hell. Ask Him if he likes it there. This will probably be the first and last time you ever use it.
Just kidding - don't do any of the above, but be prepared. Once you find out it works you will probably not want to use it again.
Don't ask someone using the board to discern some embarrassing secret only you know. Because the Ouija will tell them. Example only you know your middle name is Eggbeater and you hate that name. Ask the Ouija masters what your secret name is - and be prepared to be embarrassed. If you are secretly in love with your best friends girlfriend and he is one of the people using the board - be very careful what you ask.
On the serious side. I went to a Haunted Room with a Warlock friend of mine and 11 other people. He cast a circle, put out salt and water etc., lit black candles, put out the lights. Drew his sword and made some secret chants and brought out what looked like an elongated black marble pyramid with a hole in the top that was threaded with a black thread. He had us pass it around the circle and I swear the thing was alive.
He next used it over the Ouija board in the center of the circle. Found out the ghosts name and how she died. One person fled the room and all hell broke out. The thingy threatened to kill some of us if we did not leave.
This room was in a boarding house and the next person that slept in that room died in an automobile accident a few days later. I am sure Mr. Warlock did everything right but still things went wrong.
Explain Please.

first i would say he was "dabbling". were you all sort of using it for entertainment rather than to try to grow and further understand something. as in devination. like tarot cards.that is not coming out right, but there is a "purity of heart" issue.
i would have not used balck candles. i would have only used white ones for purity. the rituals seem correct.
i would never call a certain spirit unless it was a family type member and that would fall under the "getting understanding" or "closure".
part of the problem is i think a lot of times when you call a spirit only unhappy/mischieviious/young spirits show up.
if it was a haunted house, did the person/ghost die a bad death. then it might want to punish you all for bothering it. it could be stuck in that house and can not leave.
those who seem to have good experiences do it for devination.
like tarot cards or a pendelum for devination.
i do not want to know the future so i do not use tarot cards.

i posted it above link. perhaps one more experienced can help.

Rev, I believe you'll find that people who are serious about such things would actually avoid calling themselves "Warlocks".
That is more a Hollywood and Harry Potter-ish term that would rarely - if ever - be embraced by serious occult-witch-pagan, etc type folks.

yes in deed. it was the other poster calling him a warlock. a warlock was basically created by the british government a couple of hundred years ago give or take a couple of centuries to make witches- male look bad. there is no such thing as a male witch being a warlock. it kind of is on the level of calling an "african-american" a "nigger".
i was just qutiing the story above.
if a person is into magic wiith out it being religion ie wiccan/pagan/hethern i would suspect they would be called a mage. one who takes religious magic witihout religion calling it "ceremonial magick". i am not sure this is exactly correct, but pretty close.

Well he was not dabbling. We called him a Warlock because he was English, male and practiced Witchcraft. He did not call himself anything but 'Simon'. Had very bright red hair, green eyes and a magnetic personality. The ghost was that of a 13 year old girl. She died from chewing on a necklace her Uncle brought her back from Mexico. It had pretty red beads and was a Kiowa spiritual necklace.
Simon found all this out before the ghost got angryat the person who left the circle but not at him. The person who left the circle said she was a thing of the Devil, and so was the Ouija and what we were doing, and we would all probable go straight to hell unless we stopped now.
The 13 year old girl was visited at night by something that clomped up the stairs and opened and closed doors, opened the window of the room in the Wintertime so it was freezing in there. We asked Simon if he could find out what was going on. He thought the footsteps belonged to her Uncle who blamed himself for her death by bring the necklace back for her. He had no idea it was poisonous.
We believe her Uncle was very evil because he would visit rooms at night, slam things around, and especially clomp up and down the stairs and hallways.

It was not a girl that left. We were all males in the room. The girl who died, died a long time ago - early 1900's I believe.
I have seen this before. Someone came thinking the whole thing was a joke. He sat there with a smug look on his face and a 'what a bunch of crap' expression. When Simon started to get answers a strange atmosphere invaded the room. You could feel a presence. The candles began to flicker and we were afraid they would go out. Then someone or something touched Mr. Smug and he freaked out.
I have seen people insist that the person or persons using the board were deliberately spelling out things. Some when invited to try it insisted the other person was forcing the answers. Then when they got an answer to something only they could possibly know, they just lost it. I know some who swear they will never go near the Ouija again.
However, I have never seen anyone freak out like this guy. He went absolutely bananas.
The house was a huge old Victorian Mansion that was once a Convent. It was haunted by the girl and her uncle. They were the only ghosts, but that was enough. The whole story is too long, do you want me to Email it to you?
