Bush Predicts Unanimous Vote on U.N. Plan

Tuesday June 8, 2004 6:16 PM

By TOM RAUM

Associated Press Writer

SEA ISLAND, Ga. (AP) - President Bush predicted a unanimous U.N. Security Council vote on a resolution dealing with post-occupation Iraq, calling it a ``catalyst for change'' in the region and a welcome kickoff for an eight-power economic summit.

``There were some that said we would never get it,'' Bush told reporters during a meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi.

``If things go well, it will be a unanimous vote,'' Bush said ahead of an expected vote in New York later Tuesday.

Bush said the upcoming vote on the revised U.N. resolution defining the new Iraqi government's power would amount to ``saying to the world that the members of the Security Council are interested in working together to make sure Iraq is free, peaceful and democratic.''

``It is a very important moment in seeing that our objective is achieved,'' he added.

Bush was asked whether he had given up on the resolution leading to more troops from more countries.

Despite the looming victory, four members of the Group of Eight summit - France, Germany, Russia and Canada - have said they won't send troops.

``I expect nations to contribute as they see fit,'' the president said.

All of a sudden U.N. is 'relevant' again. Shazam.

Hooray for election year.

... you naughty boy.

C'mon, answer my question. What are the inherent flaws in North America's culture and economic system?

Rev, there is no apostrophe in the possessive 'its'.

Obviously, education is not one of its benefits that you have enjoyed.

Just answer the question. You're all looking very foolish now.
