:D Yes... this investment was long overdue.

I overhauled all my tube-amps, new matched tube sets,

cabling... de-dust...... :lol

Was expensive, but neccessary.

Do you also care about your tube amps, or do

you simply switch on always over years? ;)

The tubes and a BB-Board inspired me for a new track yesterday :D

"Addicted To Music"

(2nd. track on the page)

The solo I played with my Peavey Classic50 (new tubes :D )

over a Peavey 4x10" cabinet.

Is this smokey or what? (the crunchy sound at least ;) )

Listening, Mike.....The tone in the solo is sweet.....

Any fx? Or just the over-driven Peavy?? Sounds like a bit of reverb...

Superb production, as always....

Ooooops.... I'm sorry to bore you Drooly! :lol :lol :lol

;)

The tubes are fancy, isn't it?

I tried a combination of russian Sovtek (pre-amp)

and Ruby-Tubes...

The sound you hear is a Les Paul Standard over

a Peavey Classic50 with 4x10" cabinet.

Guitar, cable, Amp. The only effect used is a

delay with 380ms in the final mix, nothing else ;)

Bore me? Not at all, Mike - I always enjoy your work...

That's always the best tone, isn't it...Simple set-up, good gear, the right settings, and a good player....

Look in the back and see if you have any little glass bottles that glow when the amp is turned on. (You can also find some real small ones - pre-amp tubes - in little mettle cans as well.) Any of the above means you have a tube amp. Would have to look at the circuitry to know if it's ALL tube, though.

Tubes can (if the amp is set up right) give you a three-dimensional sound you can't get with solid-state.

Hey MIKE, check out this sight if you really want to get into it: vintageamps.com/PlexiPala...matebb.cgi

I use a sovtek rectifier in my matchless for now...boosted my voltage a bit...they're cheap and they work, but they're not American or German!!

I use NOS tubes for everything else...mainly because I dont tour anymore..so my amps dont take a real beating ....so I can keep vinatge tubes in em !!!

I have a stash of GE, sylvania, Mullard NOS tubes...enough to fill out both of my amps twice..

and a couple sets of Telefunken 6 pins...still in the original boxes!!!..that I bought just because!!..I take em out and look at em now and then.

I still order good matched sets of NOS Power amp tubes when I can find em and afford em!!

and sets or Quads of 12ax7s

I live in fear of the day that they are all gone..

;)

NOS are worth every penny. They may cost more than modern production tubes, but sound much better AND last at least 5 times as long! Most modern production tubes live about 1500 hours...a Telefunken 12AX7 will live 100,000!

having had as many as 10 fender amps at one time, i've acquired a large hoard of NOS tubes. the only way to go.
