wheres the rest of my disk?

did a xp home isntall on my new computer.

it has so far an 80gig disk in it.

durign install it looked to me like xp said that it could partition the drive and install xp in that partition. so i said "yeah, make 2 40 gig partitions and install yourself in one of them"

but now when the computer is up and ruinning, only one 40gig disk is showing up. where the other one? or where the rest of the 40 gigs gone??

Jorn,

Go to control panel/Administrative tools/Computer Management/Disk management and make sure it has been formatted. From there you can see you whole disk. If should show the remainder as not being allocated or formatted.

Hej Jorn - you get fast service here from Sins!

I'm a Win 98 holdout, never installed XP. It doesn't require a partition/FAT32, right? (I use a 2nd drive D for file backup and storage anyway)

Some guys like to load the Windows OS only on drive C and install all their other programs & files on D. That way if Windows crashes, gets infected, bugged, scummed or otherwise needs to be reloaded, they still have the progs, saved files and their work in good shape and all ready on D.

When I finally concede to XP I might try that.
