That's detail from a Picasso painting, Chris, "Stage Curtain For the Ballet 'Parade' ". It's his biggest painting (speaking canvas-wise).

Oops, maybe I got the idea wrong here, hahaha! Was this supposed to a real quiz or were you just wondering what it was, Chris?

I recognized it from my days as a docent at the Minneapolis Institute Of Arts. They have a Picasso lithograph similar to this style - a bit odd for Picasso, whose work most often looks like what a kid does with crayons on the living room wall!

Wow! Impressive Ron!! Yes yes yes it's HUGE!! ANd it's hanging in Hong Kong right now in a shopping mall next to my ferry pier!! I walk past it daily. Goodness knows how he PAINTED It?!?!?

It must be great to see it in person & up close like that, Chris!

I've just seen it in art books. It stands out from most of the rest of his work due it's combination of Picasso's version of realism & the surrealism in it.

Well, according to the page I linked to Goodness (hahaha!)sez:

"The work was painted on a canvas made of cotton and jute consisting of nine horizontal panels sewn together; it weighed some 70 kilograms. The canvas was spread on the floor for painting. After a light sizing of the surface with glue, the picture was outlined in charcoal, and distemper applied in a thin coat, highly diluted with water."

The short quicktime movie on that page gives a good idea of how big it is in comparision to the people who installing it! IT IS a huge canvas!

Anyway, I didn't know this was meant to be a real quiz - I just thought you had found a painting that you were curious about, hahhaha! Otherwise I would've waited for others to take their own shot at it.

that's an enormous painting!

I've seen this painting in books but I had no idea it was that big..

I had no idea Picasso painted anything that big..

it's a lovely painting!!

it must have been amazing to stand in front of it!!!!
