The US record industry is planning to sue people who swap music over the internet.

Starting on Thursday, the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) says, it will gather evidence against users of "peer-to-peer" software such as Kazaa, and file $150,000 (£90,000) lawsuits against them.

The RIAA says its sales have been hit hard by the software, which allows users to swap music, films, and other files over the internet.

But the president of one peer-to-peer site blasted the RIAA threat as counter-productive.

The rest of the article is here

So what do you think of this new witch-hunt?
I don't care! Screw the RIAA
Well it's about time! Everytime I go to Kazaa - I see my songs available for downloading. I'm losing MILLIONS!
Er- don't the record companies have better things to do? Like finding REAL talent to promote?!??!
Why don't the RIAA and Kazaa work together?
Let RIAA run up huge lawyer fees, how much does it cost for 3 million lawsuits???

They are only going after people that DL thousands of songs, mainly for Major Labels. This has nothing to with most music sites.

GetMeMusic

Artistlaunch

IntoMusic.co.uk

Sound Click

....and then sell them on the street for 3-4 bucks a CD cash, put the money in their pocket, and pay no royalties or TAX on it...

Unfortunately, some of the little people getting a few of their favorite tunes will be pounced upon, too, probably, to make an "example"...?? :dunno
