Hendrix my dog was put down this morning........ :(

I am so very sorry. Your poor thing, you must be feeling awful.

But 14 years is pretty damn good age for a dog, and you have lotsa fun memories of here. She's probably quite happy in that little doggy heaven and out of pain now.

I was 9 or 10 when we put down our first dog, Scamp. He had cancer. We buried him in the back yard and grew a lime tree over him. Everytime we pass the tree we think of Scamp.

I hope you feel less sad soon. This weather doesn't help either

She's now out of pain. It was the right thing to do. I miss her so. Nearly 14 years old.

She survived the following:

1. Being poisoned 7 times

2. Jumping off the roof of a 3-storey building

3. Heartworm

4. Major surgery on her oesophagus.

It is sad. I have had two dogs that we had to have put to sleep. Am not looking forward to doing so with the one that is part of our family now if it comes to that.

I was 8 years old when I got my first dog....I was 25 when I had to take it to the Vet to be put down.

Ever see a grown man cry? You would have that day.

I got my dog Blackie when I was 2... - she died when I was 21.. and I miss her to this day..

Thank you everyone. It's so weird - you don't realise how much a dog becomes part of your family. Jimi (her son) is all lonely now. The vet warned me that he will mourn as he's never been alone till now......

The swelling in her throat had spread to her lymph nodes so she would have died very soon (in great pain). She's seen me in every band I've been in. She's seen boyfriends come and go. She's lived all over the place (in HK) with me. Thanks for letting me talk about her.

Yes I have considered it. most especially for Jimi. I thought I could give it a week or so and see how it goes. They are many opportunities to get puppies but I don't want to rush into it either. If and when I get a new puppy, it shouldn't be a reaction to Hendrix's death. Well that's imho. Thank you Drooly
