hahaha "Do I hear a difference?" You're so funny Mike! Of course I hear a difference!! I like the instrumentation you've done and the mix is really good (why am I not surprised!!) This sounds much more polished. Has Daniel heard this? He'll love it.



You know the part with his vocals and his backing harmonies - when all the voices are together - maybe they are a little bit too loud? Oh I'm looking again for that bit but can't find it - maybe my ears were too receptive then - hahahaa

I know what you mean with the loud vocals...

...hhhmmmm... for my ears the vocals are the most important thing in that song and you even can sing/play it with only a acoustic guitar. I did not want to destroy this intimate athmosphere if you know what I mean. I also did not want to distract ears from the main thing though.



But you have a point there

Daniel had a home demo on his MP3.com page called

"Genuine" and he wanted to have some additions. I thought this is a good song basically.





I added Bass and electric guitars and changed the mix a little bit.

I'd say the re-mix is radio ready.

SOFTWARE (I recorded early in the morning and out

of respect for my neighbours, I did not use the Marshall ))



No loudspeakers or tubes at all Only the Stratocaster, a cable and a new channel in ProTools

well, all I can say is that I have great respect for your ears, Mr. Burn......





I even enjoy listening to stuff that is not in my genre which you have produced, just for the sonic purity and clarity.

Sounds really good to me, mate, and ready to go. I like the way the backing vocals anticipate rather than follow the underlying chord change. Classy pop-rock.



I tend to do something similar for electric guitar - I use a Johnson J-Station amp simulator into a Korg D1600 digital recorder. I got tired of carrying amps in and out of my little studio, fiddling with mics and putting 'QUIET PLEASE' notices on the door for my noisy family!!! When Jane comes round to do the vocals, I have to buy them all tickets for the cinema - they don't complain, in fact they keep asking when we're going to start another album!

Awesome work as usual! I agree with drooly that it is definitely radio ready! Cool guitar too. Hey Mike, out of curiousity, what guitar did you use in 'Leaving'. I'm guessing it was your Gibson SG?...am I wrong? Anyway, I love the sound!
