Personally I'm not too good at this stuff, but with the help I've gotten so far...

For the wine...forget France...who wants all those toxic chemicals with dinner?

For white wines...think upstate NY...The finger lakes region.

Depends on where you live as to availability. A few small wineries can ship everywhere, but most can't. Dr. Frank is national via the web. Arbor Hill is regional, and, so is Swedish Hill. All excellent wines!

Widmer is national...probably at your local liquor store. For your chicken dinner, because of the lemon base, pick up a jug of Widmer's Lake Niagra. You'll find it on the bottom shelf, and, you can sniff the cap...it's truly a jug wine!

It's a semi sweet white blend... light, dry concord influence. It's a nice, light wine! It's $10/gallon, if you don't like it, it's not expensive to try. We would use it instantly with lemon chicken, and, also for Scallop salads, because it's a nice counterpoint to the lemon. It's a nice, very smooth, light wine. Goes down real easy!

WARNING: Lake Niagra has a higher then normal alcohol content. Figure on half of your local dinner wine consumption...it's real easy to get loaded on this stuff!

PS: when you get that perfect menu, and, a few more, email me. We're publishing a new series of cookbook/music CD's next year. I assume you can do the music too. Please visit our under construction, new web site:

Check out the "couples" program...You would fit here!

For desert...is this a "formal" dinner? Smores are casual.

As the "incompetent chef" here is my suggestion for a traditional desert:

The Cake from hell:

You need a bundt pan you can microwave.

Line the bottom of the pan with a can of manufactured frosting.

Buy a microwave, choclate cake mix...my favorite is Duncan Hines.

Follow the instructions for the microwave cake from the package. Place in the bundt pan.

Nuke the crap out of it for 15 minutes. Watch the microwave...it rises and grows...real exciting cooking!

You need a deep dish plate. This is messy!

Flip the bundt pan onto the plate and watch.

The frosting will drip over everything! It's an exciting desert!

It looks like a volcano!

OK - here goes - hope you're not offended with my comments:

The layout could be clearer.

eg. On cookware page (love the page names btw) it's all aligned to the left and there seems to be a lot of blank space on the right - is it being left for a photo? There's a spelling mistake in the last paragraph. The email addresses could be hyper-linked. It's a bit confusing having the 'Crossings' underneath - are these 2 seperate books? Maybe a brief description at the top with the names and then a table of two columns with info about the books? Eventually I presume you'll be adding book cover and maybe a song sample or recipe sample? (That's what I'd like to see!)

Home Page - why is there a big gap between 1st & 2nd paragraph? If you're going to mention Crossings & Couples on front page, it's a good idea to hyperlink to the 'cookware' page.

Vaporware - needs more paragraph spacing. A bit hard to read.

I KNOW you're still building the site so I hope my comments doesn't offend you.

I think navigation and good content is the key to every website. It doesn't have to be flashy if the information people are looking for is all there.

I'll be happy to make suggestions in the future, if you're still talking to me!!!

Thank you Chris,

I asked for help, and, your comments are helpful!

Many of the big gaps in the copy is where photos will be eventually placed. Same in the vaporware section, because we'll eventually post the actual newspaper and magazine articles, or, in the case of Mrs. Wolf, her obituarys.

Feel free to visit the site from time to time, and, please, comment away!

Thank you!

Drooley,

If you have the campfire to make Smores, have I got a steak and veggie recipe to go with that campfire! Everybody cooks their own meal by ear...perfect for muscians. Let me know if you want it.
