Hi my name is Sue. I am in a band in Sacramento, California called the Venable 4. We just recorded a demo and I have been anxiously awaiting its completion, and unfortunately, it is still not fully mixed, but for posting mp3's it should be okay.

I do not mind constructive criticism. In fact, I really appreciate it. I get tired of hearing, "That is great." "Good job." I am not a perfect person, and, by no means, a perfect musician.

I'm just listening again to your "Target Practice".

Well, you said it is not fully mixed.

The Lo-Fi sound is authentic in any case, incl. the 'megaphone' vocals

)

What disturbs me are the drums, snare and cymbals are way too loud in general, the bassdrum needs definitely more punch.

This will change the character of the song totally, if done right.

I don't have to say anything about the song itself or the arrangement... well I maybe missed some more 'playing together' of the bass and the guitar/s. It's not that tight for my ears (except of 'the police' part towards the end) , which brings the power of the track down, if you know what I mean

The vocals are pretty cool, retro-style

How funny! :lol

I hate the drums in that song too! In fact, I think the drums sound horrible on the entire demo!

And the other funny thing is I had this ex-boyfriend in Colorado loved the Police, and I learned to hate them (out of sheer spite, mind you), and someone else told me that the ending had a ska feel to it...that made me gag!

But I agree...the ending is much tighter than the rest of the song, and it isn't the best song in the world, either.

The recording isn't the best and who knows if mixing it will help, but thank you very much for your input. You don't know how much I appreciate it and how very right on the mark I felt you were!
