you can literally call me a fanatic.

I have recorded a cover of their song

"My Rival", and I would love to know your opinion,

please tell me if this thing would be OK to be uploaded

on an OMD...

I'm not too familiar with Steely Dan... and I don't know the original track...

I like the keyboards and the vocals (incl. the backing choir

))... moody track and sophisticated arrangement!!!

All instruments are played very well!!

I have to criticise the drum programming though.

It's not tight and the bass drum is awfully wrong quantized for my ears

I really would work on the drums again, as they make the beat simply weak and untight... In general I would say the bass-drum is too early... which takes out the relaxed and laid-back feel. Obviously wrong quantized..... for this kinda beat you have to select at maximum 32th. quantizing... I know, it's hard.. but worth the work... Not?

I'm a Steey Dan freak and must say you deserve a lot of credit for even attemping their material. I enjoyed listening to your version of 'My Rival' very much and if there was any constructive criticism to offer, I would have to agree with Mike that the timing could use some work. Other than that, great job!

You both are right, I have to work much on

editing, but I'm a complete newbie at digital recording,

and I have to admit that keeping everything in time

is a real pain!

I was used to analogic where everything is exactly

where you put it and exactly how you play it, while

my computer gives me a small delay in the sound

so that I have to work on every single part....!

Any way, I gave an eye to what I should spend

to upload them on MPPP or Java... GULP!

So this one will just be a private thing for a few friends.
