"Online subscription music service Pressplay said Monday that it signed a deal to distribute music from independent label Zomba Recording, which includes artists Britney Spears, 'Nsync, the Backstreet Boys and R. Kelly.



Pressplay, based in New York and Los Angeles, is a joint venture of Sony Music Entertainment, a unit of Sony, and Universal Music Group, a unit of Vivendi Universal. Pressplay also distributes music from EMI Group and some smaller labels.



As with Pressplay's other deals, the Zomba contract is not exclusive, Pressplay said. Zomba can distribute its songs on competing online music services. Pressplay's services are distributed through different Web sites, including Vivendi's MP3.com and Roxio. Pressplay, launched in December, is one of several subscription services that have emerged in the past few months aiming to capitalize on the demand for music on the Web.
