Doctor Oakroot
Album – Mythical Creature
Dr. Oakroot”s “Mythical Creature” is a wandering anthology of the acoustic blues genre.
With his roots deep in the laid back sounds of Louisiana “Swamp” Blues, “Dr. Oakroots” distinctively simple yet effective guitar and resonator work carries the listener down a lackadaisical and relaxed road.
While vocally Dr.O is not going to wow you, his guttural styling fits the period of the genre like a glove, giving songs like “On The Road To Saint Paul” a very authentic sound. Listeners will be nicely surprised by the tasteful little lead passages in “Dr. Oakroot’s” work. They provide a bit more of a modern feel to the songs for a moment and tend to merge the straight “Blues” with a hint of Jazz.
As I said this album wanders through various styles and “Wonder Wonder” is a piece that clearly breaks away from the more traditional Blues feel of much of the album. This is a song where “Dr.O’s” jazz influences come to the forefront. Very reminiscent of the Van Morrison classic Moon Dance, Wonder Wonder is a fun little piece.
Dr. Oakroot is a seasoned veteran of the road, where for many years he has been wowing fans from the Carolinas to Minnesota with his charismatic stage performances and his mastery of the acoustic blues and resonator guitars.
“Mythical Creature” is a veteran release from a Blues artist whose reputation is anything but Mythical. Pick up your copy of “Mythical Creature” in the http://www.javamusic.com/CoffeeShop/CoffeeShop.asp> CoffeeShop today.
