Shauna...Have you seen the TV movie of "Salem's Lot"? That is the one time I can remember seeing James Mason playing a REALLY Evil, creepy role...and he did it VERY well!

"The Green Mile" was just totally awesome...blew me away...literature at it's finest. The movie was fantastic.

And "Pet Semetary"? Whoa....I have 3 cats and I think about that one sometimes when I'm feeding them...

AA...laughing is good...ALWAYS good....do a lot of it!

though I've not been doing a great deal of it lately, cept research type thingys...I can read practically anything but definitely have a preference for fiction. My taste in reading (and music) is totally ecclectic.

types of books I've read: Sci-fi, detective, horror, fantasy, romance, martial arts, history, thrillers, comedy, DIY, self-improvement, vocal theory, psychology, etc etc etc.

One of my favourite books is Jitterbug Perfume by Tom Robbins.

I was helpless with laughter when I read Wilt, by Tom Sharpe - over five times. I'm a big fan of Tom Sharpe

When I was a teenager I read tons of Stephen King. My introduction was Cujo... and I loved IT, but got somewhat turned off with the movie - the ending was naff. I didn't know he wrote Shawshank Redemption and Green Mile, both brilliant movies.

I've read a couple of Terry Prachett - the Hogfather springs to mind. But I love fantasy, and downed all of CS Lewis, Tolkien, the Potter books, several times over. Also a big fan of Greek and Roman mythology. My first band was called Medusa, and I had the hair to prove it :wgrin

There was a time when I devoured every whodunnit I could lay my hands on. I'm crazy about forensic science. Right now I'm an CSI nut.

In my more morbid years I used to read Russian authors and short stories. I have made a promise never to read depressing books again or see horror or violent movies. Life is too short

and I dont see why I must pay good money to be miserable.

Nah the list of authors that have thrilled me, made me laugh, kept me up nights... its too long. I wish I had more time to curl up with a good book like I used to do. Those were the days.

Seismic, it was kind of weird for me. I saw the movie "Salem's Lot" but didn't read the book. I usually prefer the books over the movies but in this case that movie really influenced how I saw vampires and such. I mean, that scene where Mark's friend-turned-vampire is scratching at the window and asking to be let in is classic.

I read almost all books from Stephen King.

But, I don't want to maintain that I a fan of it am.

The Stand is one of my favourite, cause it is just one story - but in this story are so many stories about different people and they have all the same problem.

I have not much time to read one of his books, but when i have time - I read the books as I would be obsessed.

Shauna - that scene is a DEFINITE classic. I also enjoyed the movie and have seen it several times.

DT7 - You know it!! Until "Needful Things" came along, "The Stand" ruled...and the TV adaptation was a work of art...I've watched the whole thing through 3 or 4 times, I forget. "The Shining" was also one to remember..."Little pigs, little pigs, let me come in...Not by the hair on your chinny, chin - chin...Then I'll huff, and I'll puff, and I'll blow your house in!" The book was nothing like the movie, though; Kubrick changed it all up, mostly for the better...it was scary as hell!! Nicholson rules!!

Gemini - Cool observation..."but in this story are so many stories..."; I hadn't really thought of it like that but you are exactly right. you can get lost in it for sure. Wonder how many spin-offs he could get out of it?

DEBBIE!! Good to see you here. You reminded me that I went thru a phase and read all of Tom Robbins books! hahahaha But I could never get into Tom Sharpe.....

Now Shawshank Redemption was an outstanding movie - this IS the one with the actor who's married to Susan Sarandon, right? The guy who digs his way out of prison? hahaha yeah CSI is a great programme! I hear what you're saying about depressing books - I read one biography on Nirvana and mentioned it to my friends, suddenly I had 2 more and someone's ordered me his diary and I had to say 'ahem - I don't really need to read anymore, thanks!!'

Sorry, babe...their both in the .mov format, but you should be able to download the Quicktime viewer for PC from Apple if you want to put it on there...some very cool Movie Trailers; The Hulk and Terminator 3...awesome!!
