I love anything with a good melody, tuneful. I particular love great vocals/harmonies. and singing lead guitar as well. A great song with crap vocals turns me off totally - I guess I'm a purist like that. Similarly grungy guitars with more noise than tune is not my cuppa cha...

Although, I do beg to differ, and wish to point out the value of classical.

For example, Pachelbel's "Canon in D" really gets my adrenalin pumping after a few brewskis at the pub, while trying to score some squeeze...!!

If you like melodic, tasteful and expressive, you should give Ronnie Earl a listen. Not your favorite genre, but he is amazing, maybe the best guitar tone on the planet.
